Ashwin's POV
"In the latest updates by Miss. Kaitlyn Milton, our journalist from London, we see that Ms. Moretti was seen with her childhood best friend, Ashwin Simha, the youngest son of Mr. Avinash Simha, a very well know and the third most wealthiest man in India. Though we haven't received any official statements from either families, the photos are going viral all over social media for how romantic their date looked. While some say the recent unfortunate events in Enzo Moretti's wedding were because of this reason, others are still stuck with how Ms. Moretti was loyal to her boyfriend even in his absence. I would like to invite Mr. Ross to share more about this....."
I looked at the TV screen in complete shock and disgust about the media. I sighed and threw my head back while closing my eyes. "The news won't be changing anytime soon, Ashwin", I heard Prasidhdhi say from behind me. I smiled humorlessly and laid on the couch, "I'm just worried how she is taking all of this. I can't even call her now", I said. She was munching on her all time favorite 5-star chocolate as she replied, "Well, she asked you to not contact her for her career. Now, all of that is at stake".
I heard someone walk in through the front door and turned to look at my brothers and father. Prasidhdhi and I stood up and looked at them. My father turned to me mid sentence and scanned the TV for a second. He turned back to Aniket Bhaiyya and instructed something I never heard. He looked at me and said, "Go pack your bags. We need to leave", and walked away. I looked at Aniket Bhaiyya and saw him roll his eyes at me and walk away. I looked at Prasidhdhi and she gestured me to go behind him and we both did.
She took his suit while I ran behind him asking what had happened. "Ashwin, you were an idiot this time. Couldn't you have spoken to her somewhere else?", he scolded. "It was her idea, Bhaiyya. How could I say no to her?". I stopped at the entrance of their room and spoke as he unbuttoned his shirt. Prasidhdhi was trying to speak for me too. "He had seen her after so many years. It is normal to forget everything else. There are no problems at work too. Why does this bother you now?".
He looked at me, "That is not what-. Why are you standing there?", I scratched the back of my head and said, "Ma told me to not go to you room after you both got married. So...". Prasidhdhi spoke sarcastically, "Such an innocent baby! Come in, don't anger him more". I dropped on the couch in their room and said, "Why are we going to London now?", Bhaiyya answered from the bathroom, "Papa thinks we need to speak to Mr. Moretti about this". I stood up immediately and looked at Prasidhdhi in shock. She hesitated but asked, "And what should we tell him?".
"We need to put a break to the rumors and news or it will harm this idiot's and Myla's career", he replied as he walked out. "Firstly, don't call my best friend names. Secondly, when will you all be leaving?", Prasidhdhi asked. "He was my brother before he became your friend and we leave tonight", my jaw dropped. "What am I going to say? I am not even prepared-", he cut me off, "Well, Mr. Majnu you had to think about that before having a date in broad daylight with a very famous model".
I looked at Prasidhdhi for help. "Can't we delay this meeting-", he cut her off too, "No, we can not. Now go, Ashwin. Get ready for the flight". I knew there wasn't any other way to solve this and blurted out the truth. "Well, Ashwin, the same career she was so worried about is going to turn into ash if we don't act now. We need to clarify this to everyone that it was just a normal friendly meetup".
"Even if it don't look friendly in any of those pictures", Prasidhdhi added. I cried, "I destroyed everything for her, Bhaiyya!!". That was when I heard my least favorite voice from beside me, "I say she deserves it for trying to spoil my engagement party". I did not even look at her and stared at Prasidhdhi who answered her, "It wasn't your engagement party, Akanksha. It was a family event where your husband just announced your engagement at".
