Maria woke up with a smile lingering on her lips, the remnants of a sweet dream still fresh in her mind. In the dream, Amir had leaned in, his gaze soft and full of warmth, and kissed her. It felt so real that for a moment, as she lay in bed with the morning light filtering through the curtains, she wished she could stay in that dream forever. The sensation of his lips against hers was
something she had longed for but never dared to imagine would happen. How she wished it would come true.

But as the dream faded and reality settled in, her heart grew heavy. Last night, after they had talked, there was a moment when she hoped something more might happen, that maybe Amir would reveal his feelings for her. Instead, they had parted ways, and she couldn't shake the nagging feeling that Amir wasn't as interested in her as she had thought.

Maria replayed their conversation in her mind, searching for signs, for anything that might suggest he felt the same way she did. But all she could remember was the polite but distant way he said goodbye, the lack of any real spark in his words or actions. It was as if he was holding something back, and that uncertainty gnawed at her.

She wanted to believe that the kiss in her dream was a sign, a glimpse into what could be if she only took a chance. Yet, the reality of their encounter left her questioning if she was just fooling herself. Maybe she was reading too much into their linteractions, seeing what she wanted to see rather than what was really there.

As she lay there, Maria wondered if she should talk to Amir about how she felt. But the fear of rejection, of ruining what they already had, kept her from reaching out. Instead, she decided to cherish the dream for what it was—a fleeting moment of happiness—and hope that, one day, it might become more than just a dream.
