-Kat-

It was February and freezing outside. I sat on the bleachers watching Blake and Dalton throw a football at a park. Why are we in a park in the middle of February? I don't know. I want to go home and curl up in bed with hot chocolate and a movie. Why did I agree to come? I pulled my phone out of my pocket, checking the time. It was gonna start getting dark soon and I was cold and hungry. I only wore leggings and a hoodie, I was not prepared to sit in the cold for 2 hours at all.

Finally, I see them walking towards me. I stand up and jump off the bleachers, meeting them as they reach me.

"We have to stop at Zaxby's." Blake tells me. I grin.

"Yes!" I cheer. Zaxby's has become my favorite food place since moving in with Blake. We don't have Zaxby's on the east coast so it's a nice change. Everything seemed better here. The price of everything, the food was better, the weather...it was winter so it was still cold but it didn't get as cold as the east coast, that's for sure.

We pull up to Zaxby's and Blake pulls out his phone and begins reading off everyone's order from home. I furrowed my eyebrows as he said two more orders than usual. When he finishes and pulls off to the window, I ask him about it.

"Why did you order so many things?"

"We have company at home." He replies. My confusion deepens.

"Your dad?" He shakes his head.

"Family friends." Is all he says before we're interrupted by the window opening.

"Blake?" The woman confirms. Blake nods and hands her his credit card. She scans it before handing it back to him and then handing him the bags of food. He handed them to me and I set them on the floor.

"Just a warning, they do have very thick southern accents." Blake says, breaking the silence.

"Who?" I ask.

"Jessica and Stacy." He replies. I nod but don't say anything else. I've heard about them before. Stacy is Blake's moms best friend. Jessica is her daughter who's Blake's age and, fun fact: was in love with for 9 years of his life until he met me. They live a few hours away and come to visit for a weekend every few months. I wasn't excited for this at all. Laura told us they were coming a week ago but I completely forgot what day it was.

We pull up to the house and everyone's standing outside. Blake gets out of the car and walks over to them, hugging Jessica and Stacy.

"It's okay, I'll get all the boxes." I say sarcastically as I begin to pick up the 7 boxes of food. Blake quickly notices and gets the drinks. We bring them in the house and begin passing out the boxes and drinks. I eat in silence, listening to everyone else talk and catch up. I glance over at Blake who has barely taken his eyes off of Jessica. My jaw clenches and I barely touch my food for the rest of dinner. I only eat the french fries, leaving my chicken tenders in the box. Everyone finishes eating as Laura and Stacy get ready to go to a gay bar.

"We're gonna go to walmart and get some soda for chasers, what do you guys want?" Amelia, Blake's sister, asks.

Blake looks at me.

"Do you wanna drink?" He asks. I shrug.

"Sure." He turns back to Amelia.

"Sprite and dr. pepper."

"Dr. Pepper as a chaser?" Amelia questions.

"I'm not drinking."

"Oh, okay." With that, her and Jessica leave, leaving me and Blake in the kitchen.
