"Okay everyone, it is with a bittersweet happiness that I officially call to order the final Literature Club meeting of this school year," Monika said, standing straight at the front of the classroom with her hands behind her back. She looked a lot like a teacher would.
"Natsuki was kind enough to make a special batch of cupcakes for us. Feel free to help yourselves. Yuri, uh, you got the tea together already?" She asked.
"Of course. I'll serve it right now." Yuri answered with a nod before standing up and making her way to the back of the classroom.
"Is everything alright, Monika? You have such a serious look on your face." Sayori noted, her eyebrows furrowing in concern.
"Y-Yeah! I'm fine! I just – I'm trying to give a quick speech and, ahaha, the words aren't quite coming out." Monika giggled nervously.
"Oh! Take your time. The cupcakes can wait." Natsuki said to encourage her.
"Forgive me, Monika, I didn't realize that you had something to say." Yuri said, turning away from the tea set to give the class president her full attention.
"No no you're fine...oh gosh, all this pressure now." Monika giggled nervously.
"Speech! Speech! Speech!" Alex clapped his hands together and chanted jokingly.
"Tch, shut up." Natsuki scoffed at this and tried not to crack a smile.
"Ahaha, anyways...I wanted to give a special thank you to each of you for making this club a success for our first year. I know that things were difficult for awhile and some of that was my fault...gosh, I didn't realize how much I missed this...
"But I'm really happy that we had such a good year. And Komi, you've been a wonderful addition to the group. I'm really glad you decided to join. Alex, I'm decided you to come back as well. And I'm just happy that there's room in this club for all of you.
"I can't wait to see where things go next year." Monika said with a grin.
"Couldn't agree more." Natsuki said with a smile, being the first to clap her hands, which prompted the others to follow suit and give Monika their applause.
"Now it's time for the cupcakes!" Sayori said excitedly.
"Yeah! Let 'em eat cupcakes like the French." Alex said with a nod.
"That was cake." Yuri pointed out.
"So? This is like the mini version then." Alex responded with a chuckle.
"And you're a dork; the full-size version." Natsuki teased before taking the cover off the platter holding her cupcakes.
She removed the top to reveal that the cupcakes were modeled like black cats with whiskers. Immediately, Komi's eyes lit up with excitement and a vague sense of familiarity.
"Aw, we're getting nostalgic. I like it!" Alex said with a chuckle as he took a cupcake.
"These seem to be fan favorites," Natsuki said with a chuckle before turning her attention to Sayori. "Hey! One at a time!" She smacked Sayori's hand as she was reaching for a second one.
"I am!" Sayori said with her mouth full.
"Sayori, it's common courtesy to at least swallow before going back for seconds." Yuri commented.
"Heheheh." Alex snorted at this.
"Oh my gosh." Natsuki shook her head at him.
"There's plenty for everyone, Sayori. Please don't choke." Monika giggled.
"Mm mm." Sayori nodded.
"If I may ask, what are everyone's plans for the summer break?" Komi asked curiously before nibbling on her first cupcake.
"Oh! I'm hoping to head out to the beach at least once this year." Natsuki said with a nod.
"Oooh beach episode. Nice." Monika said with a nod.
"Ha! I was just gonna say that." Alex laughed.
"Oh no, you're corrupting her now." Natsuki shook her head.
"A beach trip sounds super fun! I was actually planning on going to the water park but the beach sounds so much better!" Sayori said.
"We can always do both." Natsuki said.
"If you got the money for it." Alex commented aside.
"Oh yeahhh...eheheh, I'll have to look at that," Sayori said, rubbing the back of her head. "But otherwise I just wanna hang out and have a nice chill summer." She added.
"My plans were very similar. If you don't invite me to any outings, most of time time this summer break will be spent inside relaxing and reading. I actually just started a new book series and I'm hoping it will carry me through the next few months." Yuri expressed.
"Lazy summers. That's how I like it." Alex said with an approving nod.
"Well you're lazy," Monika said with a lighthearted smile. "I'm just kidding."
"Ouch!" Alex laughed at this.
"Ahaha, sorry, couldn't help it. But for my summer, I'm going to be taking some piano lessons. I want to get better at it and maybe try writing a song or two if it works out. I dunno; it's kinda silly." Monika brushed it off bashfully after realizing how she sounded when saying it.
"Aw that's so cool, Monika! Are you gonna share it with us?" Sayori asked excitedly.
"Ahaha, I don't know if I'll even have anything to show honestly...b-but if anything comes along then I will." She promised.
"Music is a very intricate skill. I'm not surprised you would try to take it more seriously since you have been practicing the piano for some time now. I hope that you're able to make something out of it." Yuri said with a smile.
"Just remember us when you become a famous singer!" Natsuki said with a laugh.
"Oh gosh, I wish." Monika laughed at this too.
"That is so cool, Monika! I could never even dream about doing anything like that. I'm not good at singing or anything musical really. I just nod along to songs when I hear them on the radio." Komi expressed.
"Same, Komi, same." Natsuki chuckled.
"Ooh we should go to a karaoke bar!" Sayori exclaimed.
"Heheheh I'd love to see that." Alex snickered at the idea.
"Don't be mean, Alex." Monika nudged him.
"Whaaat?" Alex chuckled again.
"I'm hoping to spend time with all of my friends this summer." Komi said. Everyone smiled at this.
"Oh absolutely, Komi! Anytime you wanna hang out you just let me know, alright?" Natsuki said with a grin.
"Yeah! Me too! Don't forget about me!" Sayori chimed in.
"Mm! Mhmm!" Komi nodded in agreement, surprised by how enthusiastic they were being.
"I'd love to spend time with you this summer, Komi." Yuri agreed with a smile.
"We'll have to arrange something for all of us to do over the break then. Something that's Literature Club exclusive, you know?" Monika suggested.
"Yeahhh Literature Club event. That would be sick." Alex nodded in agreement.
"I look forward to it very much!" Komi expressed with a happy expression...
