Ethan Blackwood tried to concentrate on the lesson, but his mind kept drifting back to the events of the past few days. Sitting in his high school classroom, surrounded by the familiar hum of students and the droning voice of Mr. Wilkins, he felt worlds apart from his classmates. The Shadow Realm had begun to intrude on his life in ways he hadn't anticipated. And now, it was becoming harder to separate the two worlds.

As the bell rang, signaling the end of class, Ethan gathered his books and headed towards his locker. He needed to check in with Dr. Vale later; the Shadow Wraiths had been getting bolder, and he needed her advice on what to do next. As he approached his locker, he noticed a flicker of movement out of the corner of his eye. Turning quickly, he saw nothing but the usual stream of students moving through the hallway.

Ethan shook his head. "Just my imagination," he muttered to himself, but he couldn't shake the uneasy feeling.

At lunch, Ethan joined his best friend, Max, and his friend Chloe at their usual spot in the cafeteria. Chloe, with her bright energy, was already halfway through a story about her weekend. Max, ever the skeptic, was rolling his eyes, but Ethan barely heard them. His thoughts were on the Shadow Wraiths.

"Ethan, you okay?" Max's voice cut through his thoughts. "You've been really spaced out lately."

"Yeah, just... got a lot on my mind," Ethan replied, trying to sound casual.

Chloe leaned in, lowering her voice conspiratorially. "Does it have anything to do with the weird stuff happening in town? People have been talking about strange shadows and weird noises at night."

Ethan's heart skipped a beat. "What do you mean?" he asked, trying to keep his tone even.

"You haven't heard? It's like, all over social media," Chloe said, pulling out her phone. "People are saying they've seen these shadowy figures around town. Some are even claiming they've seen them at school."

Ethan's mind raced. He knew what they were talking about—Shadow Wraiths. But why were they appearing at school? The Shadow Realm had been a separate world, one he thought he could keep hidden from his everyday life. Now, it was clear that the boundaries were blurring.

Max looked skeptical. "It's probably just some prank. You know how people get around Halloween."

Chloe frowned. "Maybe, but it doesn't feel like a prank. Some of the videos people are sharing... they seem real."

Ethan felt a chill run down his spine. He needed to talk to Dr. Vale and Zara—something was definitely wrong.

The rest of the day passed in a blur, Ethan barely paying attention to his classes. He couldn't shake the feeling that something was watching him, lurking just out of sight. After school, Ethan headed to Dr. Vale's lab, his mind racing with questions.

When he arrived, he found Zara already there, her face serious. "You've felt it too, haven't you?" she asked as he entered.

Ethan nodded. "The Shadow Wraiths—they're getting bolder. They've been seen around town, even at school."

Dr. Vale looked up from her work, her expression grave. "The barrier between the Shadow Realm and our world is weakening. If the Wraiths are crossing over more frequently, it means something—or someone—is trying to force the realms together."

Zara stepped forward, her eyes sharp. "We need to figure out what's causing this before it's too late. If the realms merge, it could spell disaster for both worlds."

Ethan felt a knot of fear tighten in his chest. The stakes were higher than he had imagined. The Shadow Realm was no longer just a secret part of his life—it was becoming a threat to everything and everyone he knew. And now, he had to find a way to stop it before the shadows consumed them all.
