Lainey's POV

*:・゚✧*:・゚

I'm practically bouncing in my seat, bursting at the seams with anticipation. It's fifth period and the bell will ring any second. Leah and I haven't talked much about the party since she asked me if I wanted to go, but today is finally the day!

I know better than to have high hopes about something that I realistically could not know less about, but the idea of our plans sounds so fun. It'll be me and Leah's first time hanging out outside of school in addition to it being my first ever party.

A piercing ringggg sounds and I'm almost immediately out the door. We've been eating in the same spot in the library every day. We're not technically supposed to be eating there, but Leah and I do a pretty good job at cleaning up after ourselves. Plus, I'm almost one hundred percent sure our librarian, Mrs. Perkins, knows for a fact that we've been snacking in our secluded corner. If she doesn't mind then I don't see an issue.

A hand grasps my shoulder as I make my turn into the library. "BOO!" I jump, not expecting the sudden loud noise nor being grabbed.

I turn and hit Leah upside the head. I'm not sure she's very good at understanding the difference between okay and not okay times to be loud. I take a peak towards Mrs. Perkins only to see her casting a stern glance right in our direction.

Leah doesn't seem to notice though because she just picks up our conversation. "Oh my gosh, I am so pumped for tonight. The thought of it being your first party too, don't even get me started. Your mom does know we're going to a party tonight right?" she asks cautiously.

"Of course she does. I don't really hide things from my mom. She knows I make good decisions. I actually did have something to ask you about tonight though." She nods, urging me to carry on. "Well, you said we could get ready together and we just haven't really talked about our plan yet," I say, getting nervous that she's changed her mind since Monday.

"Okay, so I would totally invite you to get ready at my house, but I have family in town right now and the house is super chaotic so that may not be the best idea. Do you think your mom would be okay with me coming to your house to get ready? If not, I totally understand. I'm not in any way trying to invite myself over," Leah explains.

"Oh yeah! My mom loves hosting people, and I'm sure she'll be even more excited because it'll be my first time having a friend over since we've moved," I began. "I will warn you that our house is still in the process of being unpacked, so it's kind of a mess right now."

"Don't worry about that. I'm just there to hang out and get ready with you. I am, in no means, gonna judge the state of your house. I know how it goes," she says, overall easing my worries.

"Okay, perfect. I'll let my mom know. Did you want to just come home with me after school? I'm sure we can swing by your house to grab whatever you need? Also, if you wanted to spend the night after the party, I'm sure that would be okay with my mom."
