Walker's POV

*:・゚✧*:・゚

"I shouldn't have given her a choice and just helped her bro," I say pitifully to Aryan. He's on the verge of being drunk, but not so far gone that he can't hold a coherent conversation with me.

He swings his head towards me like it weighs a million pounds. "You just have to go find her and talk to her again," he replies like that's the most obvious solution. At least it would be the obvious solution if I knew where she was. And if I knew how to keep a conversation going with a girl.

"But what do I say when I find her? What if she blows me off and I look stupid in front of everyone," I think out loud. Aryan just shoulders me and shakes his head. "You'll never know until you try."

It's clear that I'm not getting many alternative solutions from him any time soon. I nod at him before deciding that I might as well just attempt to talk to her again.

The last time I saw Leah, she was standing around the cup pong table in the game room. As soon as I entered the room I spotted her but no Lainey. As I approach her she yells, "Walker! I haven't seen you since Monday! How have you been?"

I give her a quick side hug before answering. "I've been good, I'm happy it's the weekend though. Do you know where Lainey is? I was going to go talk to her," I quietly add at the end.

She gives me a look of pure excitement before saying, "She went out back for a little. Said she needed a break or something. I'm sure she'll be happy to talk to you." Leah winks at me and turns back to our friends, diving right back into the discussion.

I go towards the back of the house and see a figure of a girl sitting by the pool. Considering there's no one else in the backyard at all, I can only assume it's Lainey. I quietly slip through the back door, trying not to disturb the calm of night outside.

I wasn't quiet enough because as I turned away from the door to make my way towards Lainey she looked in my direction. The light from the pool reflects off of her face, showing me that she's squinting in attempts of deciphering who I am.

When I get close enough, I softly say, "Hey." I offer her a nervous grin, hoping she can actually see me and the night isn't the only one on the receiving end of it.

"Walker? Is that you?" she asks almost inaudibly. It's only us out here, yet I get the feeling that both of us don't want to ruin the calm evening.

"Yeah. I needed a break from all the noise and then saw you sitting here. I thought I'd see if you minded the company," I reply.

I'm standing right next to her, looking at the water to avoid her soft gaze. Everything about her features call me to peer at her face, but I'm trying to prevent from blushing as much as possible.
