On the drive to Panda express Sam was texting away happily. Mom talked to dad while I starred out the window watching the cars drive by blurred out by the pouring rain. Her reflection in the car window would sometimes shift to the handsome strangers face and then back. At one point her brother had noticed her confusion and poked her in the ribs.

"What are you thinking about sis?" Ember narrowed her eyes at him and realised that he genuinely men't it.

"It's nothing Sam." Joseph glanced back at her as she starred out the window some more and shook his head unbelievingly.

Sam however had lost his interest as soon as she said it's nothing. He went back to texting his friend on his phone. Embers eyes seemed to gaze into a world no one else could see but her, she would smile now and then but never said anything.

When they pulled into the parking lot Dad held an umbrella for him and mom, Sam turned his phone off and held his own mini umbrella with the Drastic Park printed on it. Mine was just a green umbrella with a golden fancy print on it. Shaking their umbrellas off at the door Ember stopped short and starred off into the blurry distance.

I narrowed my eyes slightly to make out the dark shape growing larger and larger by the second. A few seconds later a man four times the size of my dad stood dripping wet as he took off his hat and shook it off. Rain dripped off his leather knee length coat. He reached out towards the door and pulled it open, my dad shook his hand thanking him and my mom nodded as my brother starred in awe. My brother thought he was strong. But looking at this guys arm made my brother look puny and weak.

"See you Monday Joseph." When the man turn to go to the bar across from Panda Express, mom crossed her arms and raised an elegant eyebrow at dad.

"Who was that? He knew your name." Dad lead us to a secluded spot away from everyone else in the room, and we all leaned in.

"He is a teacher at the school. He helps me when we teach are SPECIAL students." Mom didn't like the answer but she accepted it for now, she gave him the well talk later look.

Ember's phone began to vibrated for three minutes straight before Sam eyed it in confusion. He rasped his knuckles on the table making Ember stop fantasising and return to the real world.

"What?" I followed his line of sight to my phone and picked it up. There was four unread messages from my friend.

"You're welcome." I rolled my eyes as I put my phones password in. A few seconds later I started to read the messages from her.

Nai: EMBER! Congratulate your dad for me! I'd do it myself but you know me, super busy with work and stuff.

Nai: Oh did you apply to a school yet?

Nai: I thought I'd tell you that I sent an application to my school for you.

Nai: Text me when you get home, I have something important to tell you.

Nai had texted me first thing this morning, two texts came while I was in the rain and the last one was just now. I figured that I'd have to tell her everything eventually.

Ember: I have to tell you something too. It's insane.

Nai: Okay! Text me when you can, have fun!

Ember: Will do, thanks bestie!

Embers father cleared his throat and raised a dark bushy eyebrow at her. When She was texting someone he'd always do that if he saw her doing it. Gesturing to her phone it was her turn to raise an eyebrow at him.

"What?" Sam set his phone down and glanced between his father and his sister.

"Who you texting Ember? A boy?" Ember has never texted a boy before. So why was he asking this? Especially now.

"Um, no. It's just Nai." Dad looked really relieved to hear that. What was he hiding. . .

"Dad, that was odd. She never texts guys. Like not even me!" Sam was giving dad a quizzical look as mom came back with a guy holding our order.

"Hello, here's your order sir. Enjoy." The boy had fiery orange hair with a white dyed streak in it brushed off to the right of his face. His perfect freckled face and his emerald green eyes shown bright, making Ember stare fixated upon him.

Ember had been so distracted by him that when he looked directly at her she spun in her seat and looked away so fast she almost fell over. As their waiter walked away he stopped by another of his colleagues and tapped his shoulder. He probably hadn't noticed that she was looking again, as he gestured back at her. When his colleague looked at her he snickered and waved making their waiter jump back in surprise. Suppressing a giggle she looked down at her sweet and sour chicken.

While they ate little did Ember know was their waiter was keeping tabs on them.
