(Phone ringing)...
"Hello...who's this?" Leila said annoyingly,she hates to be called by an unknown number.
"It's me,Abdulkadir,we met last week when you were on your way to school."
Leila rolled her eyes as she remembered who it was.
"Ok,what's the matter." Leila said as she regrets giving her number to him.
"Leila,ever since I made eye contact with you,i knew you were the one for me,you're beautiful,tall and.....
"Hey,hey...who gave you the right to say those things to me,why are you men all the same." Leila interrupted him.
He was silent for a minute
"Leila believe me, I'm not like that at all,i just think you're attractive and i see you have good taste,the moment i saw you."
"Auzubillahi Minash shaidanir rajim, you must be out of your mind,are you stupid,do you think I'm like the other ladies that you think you can talk to like that." Leila said angrily.
"Leila... hear me...."
(Phone call ended)
Leila hanged up right before he could say anything else. She threw the phone on her bed and rubbed her forehead as she got angry by what he said.
"Why are men so disrespectful and scum" Leila said as one of her past sliding through her mind. She shook her head and headed for the bathroom to make wudu to pray for asr.
(Leila starts praying)....
(Leila completes her salah and starts to make supplication)
"Assalam alaikum warahmatullah...Assalam alaikum warahmatullah...Astagfirullah...Allahumma ants Assalam wa minka Assalam...tabarakta ya zuljalali wal ikram..."
(Leila elavates her hands in the air)
"Ya Allah...guide and protect us from the evil people...
Ya Allah protect my ummi and abbi from witnessing another painful and traumatic experience...
Ya Allah bless my family with happiness and prosperity....
I pray to you ya Allah to bring back what was rightfully ours from Baffa Umaru...he has surely cheated us,he made us live like this...ya Allah your surely the best of planners and i know you will bring about justice ya Allah Azzaujal."
Leila made masah(wiped her face after prayer and wiped her tears.
She stood up from her prayer mat,folded it and kept it in a corner of her room.
(Door opens)...
"Hey there my favorite daughter." Leila's ummi,entered her room.
Leila quickly wiped off the remnants of tears before her ummi notice's.
"Ummi...you're here." Leila said sniffing her nostrils.
"Kedai bazaki daina kukan nan dakike yi ba.... Na hanaki fh [ so you'll not stop this crying that you're always doing...I even told you to stop it]"
"Ummi,I wasn't crying,really...I just completed my prayer and i was praying to Allah to guide us that's all ummi." Leila said in apprehension.
"I hope so my beautiful daughter." Leila's ummi said giving her a smile and petting her head.
Leila's ummi, Mabruka Isma'eel,is a fulani who was born in adamawa,married in adamawa and also gave birth to leila there,when laila finished her primary school,they moved to abuja,where they are currently living now. Leila's abbi,Luqman Abubakar, together with her ummi Mabruka,loved and cherished their children especially leila,they took care of all their needs and desire's and made them happy,but that needs and desires didn't go on for long because of what happened to them,when Leila just started her secondary school. But still not all their needs and desires weren't taken care of.Leila's parents worked hard still to make their children happy and
contented.
"Ah yes! i almost forgot what brought me here." Leila's ummi said recalling.
"I want you to go and buy us some foodstuffs,everything's finished and there's nothing to eat for dinner." Leila's ummi added.
"Hannah and rukayya are out playing with their friends,I could've sent them."
"Okay momma,I'll go now." Leila said.
(Leila's mom went out of the room)
Leila wore her purple jilibab and headed out to buy the foodstuffs with the little money they had.
(Enter's shop)
"Assalam alaikum,uncle sannu da aiki." Leila addressed the shop keeper.
"Yawwa sannu my daughter,what would you like to buy." The shop keeper asked Leila with a smile.
"I want maize grains and cassava for three hundred, then maggi,pepper and tetashe(scotch bonnets) for two hundred naira."
"Okay,let me get that for you." The shop keeper said.
Leila,while waiting for the shop keeper to bring her the stuff ,recalled how they had never eaten anything that looked like maize grains nor cassava,they only ate foods like rice,eggs,yam and so on,she went deep in her thoughts when the shop keeper interrupted her...
"My daughter gashinan." The shop keeper said while giving her the stuff.
"Thank you uncle,I'll be on my way." Leila gave a fake smile and left.
Leila went home and gave a her mom what she bought and went straight to her room. Leila upon entering her room let out a deep sigh as she collapsed on the bed.
(Phone ringing)....
"Ughh, whose it now." She thrust her head up in annoyance.
Leila's expression changed as she saw who was calling.
(Picks it up)...
"Heyy there masoyiya rabin jiki." Noor said in a rather teasing way.
"Howfar, ya akayi." Leila answered.
"Aah you've already forgotten." Noor said in astonishment.
"Forgotten what?"
"Today Ramlat is celebrating her birthday remember... and she invited us." Noor said sceptically.
"Ohhh...Ramlat of course...Ya salam,I've completely forgotten about that."
Leila said in realization.
"Brain fade,oya get ready before 7pm I'll come and pick you up and don't be a party pooper ooo." Noor informed her.
"I've heard...I've heard,now hang up so i can avoid being a party pooper." Leila said while being sarcastic and rolling her eyes.
"Okay darl. And 7pm sharp!" Noor added.
"I've heard you, don't bother me." Leila said in brusque way.
"Alright,byeeeeee."
(Hangs up)....
Ramlat is Leila's senior during secondary school. She sometimes give's her a hard time while the other she helps her when she was being bullied by the rich kids out there since she was a scholar ship student, leila couldn't understand what she was up to.
"Why would Ramlat invite me to her birthday party? Is she up to something?or did she just invite me since she knew we were friends with Noor,i see she loves Noor so much." Leila kept on assuming things.
