Despite Varian reforming and rejoining the side of good and using his moonstone powers to help instead of destroy, every full moon the moonstone would still take control of him and make him go hostile. He tried to remove the moonstone from his chest, but no matter what he did it wouldn't budge. But once daylight hits again Varian regains control of himself and his body again. He's just glad that it only happens on a full moon now and not every night like it used to. Other than that, Varian is happy and thriving in Old Corona and helping Rapunzel and the gang on missions. (he also likes to use his powers to play pranks on people. Like jump them with a black rock to scare them.
