A day had passed since Varian stole the moonstone for himself. He kept it close to him wherever he went, because he liked the powerful feeling he felt when holding it. He had spent his time trying out different ways to control these rocks, and writing down all the other side effects the rocks had given him. He had also noticed the rocks powers had taken away his need to eat or drink, which he didn't mind because this little cottage he was hiding out in had no source of food whatsoever. (except a couple shrivelled up fruits and expired milk that looked over a hundred years old and had a god awful smell)
Varian was sitting at an old desk in the cottage writing a new entry in his newfound notebook, when he suddenly heard the cottage door creak open… He dropped his pen and snatched up the moonstone from in front of him and turned his head to see why the door opened. Once he looked over, he was greeted with the sight of Cassandra looking towards him holding her sword up. He knew she also had a grudge against Rapunzel, and secretly hoped she wouldn't say or do anything. Cassandra stayed quiet then they both heard Rapunzel's voice “Cass? What are you looking at?” Rapunzel had then walked up to the door and looked in as well, her eyes widened in shock when she saw Varian just sitting at a desk there “Rapunzel.” Varian spoke before quickly getting up and clutching the moonstone tightly. “How did you find me?” he asked in a suspicious and stern tone “That doesn't matter.” Rapunzel replied “What matters right now, is the fact that you need to hand over that moonstone, Varian- Right now.” she said pushing passed Cassandra and entering the cottage. Varian let out a frustrated growl and stepped back, clutching the moonstone tighter in his grip “I don't think so, princess…” he said, now holding his clenched fist, moonstone in hand, up. A glow started to illuminate from inside his fist where the moonstone was
