'do you picture me like i picture you?' — picture you, chappell roan

before...

victoria didn't understand why everyone on the media kept putting paige and her against one another—in fact victoria admired paige bueckers a lot. mostly because she was an amazing player and she seemed like a genuinely sweet person.

so you could imagine victoria's excitement when finding out that she had the chance to meet paige in real life at a high school hosted training camp. finally, the two supposed enemies would become acquainted with one another and hopefully silence the ruthless rumours that were eating their way through their careers like malicious animals. blood thirsty for even the slightest bit of drama.

"you ready for basketball camp?" victorias dad wrapped a comforting arm around his daughters shoulders. leaning his tall figure against her own as they had been staring at the high school for quite sometime.

"yeah, just a little nervous." victoria uttered quietly, afraid if she spoke louder she would only draw more attention to the wondering eyes that surrounded her.

"you'll do amazing. you just show them what real talent looks like." archie hart encouraged his daughter. pushing victoria closer towards the entrance, laughing as she looked back with worried eyes widened.

"if you don't go inside now i'll carry you in there." with a defeated huff and slung shoulders. victoria dragged herself into the high school with one last wave before joining the rest of the players inside the court.

awkwardly sitting amongst the stands, prepping herself as she tied her shoelaces. wary of the many looks she was receiving by her peers. whispers loudening as they shamelessly watched the girl as if she was in some type of animal in their enclosure at the zoo.

"hey, victoria? right? i'm paige. i've heard so much about you, i'm a big fan." paige took it upon herself to sit next to the brunette. feeling her uneasiness from a meter away.

paige bueckers knew very well who victoria hart was. in fact she had watched almost every slam interview, every overtime video and every singular article that was released about the girl. but who hadn't? victoria was said to be the top recruitment in the country at the moment. paige wanted nothing more to meet the girl. so to be sitting next to her was something unworldly.

"i could say the same. it's great to finally meet you." victoria quickly captured the blonde into a small side hug. pulling away as she continued to tie her shoes.

"shocked that you don't hate me." paige joked, smiling wider at the sound of victoria's laugh. a sound that she didn't know that she had been deprived from until now.

"yeah i was shocked that you didn't come in for a fist fight." victoria shook her head with a small chuckle, spinning herself around slightly, knees touching as she met paige's eyes.

her eyes seemed even bluer in real life. it brought a feeling victoria was not all familiar with. fluttery and flustered the brunette cut it off with a forced cough. attempting to disrupt the butterflies that were forming in her stomach.

"i swear the media is gonna hate us even more if we become friends." paige took notice of how brown victoria's eyes looked. how photos did not do the girl nowhere near enough justice as the light of reality. victoria basically gleamed, her smile shining between plump lips. an emotion that was unbeknownst to paige corrupted her thoughts. a feeling she did not know she was capable of feeling...towards a girl.

"then we should become the bestest of friends. i would love to see random men get pissed off that we actually like each other." victoria stated, cheeks lightly warming as paige shuffled an inch closer. their skin meeting spun her into an orbit.
