' every time i look into your eyes i see it. you're all i need.' — get you , daniel caesar

it was a crazed feeling that pleaded to be fed. scratched at your feet as it begged endlessly to be entertained. hatred is seemingly an emotion that every human posses even if you are cowardly to admit it. everybody has a little but of hatred in their heart. it's a feeling that needs to be fueled, that needs its standards to be met with revenge and injustice.

if you don't feed the fire it will eventually burn out. which is why victoria always kept hers burning. it was intentional of course. hating paige was much easier thing to do than being civil, only because victoria knew the outcomes of that.

she would be reminded of their past, feel humiliated all over again and scare herself back into the shell of hating paige bueckers. besides hating her was way more fun when she always gave victoria the reaction she needed.

maybe it was childish but it didn't matter to either of them because they didn't know anything better.

"you couldn't just fucking pass the ball?" victoria scoffed, wiping down the benches inside the gym which for once was deafeningly quiet. only sounds that have been made in the past 20 minutes was that of scrubbing and the plastic ruffling every time either of them pulled yet another wipe out of the packet.

paige shook her head into a tiny grin, corners of her glossed lips lifted as she turned to look at victoria.

"you know you could've called for the ball more?" paige squinted her eyes as she said this, her chest heaving between her words as she bit at her tongue. shoving the words she truely wanted to say down her throat in detest.

"please i've seen your plays. as if you didn't see me in the corner, everyone literally said 'you have eyes at the back of your head'." victoria rolled her eyes as she scrubbed the benched with more agression, leaning her knee against the edge as she took all her anger out onto the leather seat.

"can we just admit that we were both wrong?" paige sighed, wiping down her palms on the back of shorts.

"fine."

"fine."

you can think you know someone so well and still not know them at all. some times it hit victoria at sudden moments that paige was once her best friend. ignoring the crushes and all the other stuff, they were best friends.

victoria used to be the person who knew everything about her, knew what her favourite soda was to how she liked her eggs and bacon cooked in the morning. which marshmallows she would pick out from her lucky charms cereal.

now victoria couldn't even tell you what her favourite colour is.

people don't realise that even our friends can turn into strangers.

victoria watched as paige mopped the areas surrounding her. eyes focused as calculated eve try swish of the dirty mop, watching the water pool over the floors as it spread outwards.

there was a split second where vic wanted to day something, anything. but her lips jutted open and closed, teeth chattering as she stood hesitant. turning with a small huff continuing with her tasks with her head down.

"why did you really leave iowa?" paige spoke, seemingly genuine even if her eyes never stowed away from the floors.

"well it just wasn't for me. there was just this little piece that felt like it was missing or just didn't sit right." it sounded stupid that the true reason why victoria left was because she had a feeling. but her instincts are typically right most of the time.
