Sanemi lay on his bed, his eyes fixed on the ceiling, trying to make sense of the whirlwind of emotions that had been plaguing him since yesterday. His room was quiet, the only sound coming from the faint murmur of Genya and Muichiro in the dining room, their voices blending into a soft hum as they worked on homework together. Sanemi appreciated the solitude, but it didn't ease the gnawing ache in his chest.

He was genuinely happy for Genya. His younger brother had found his soulmate in Muichiro, and ever since, Genya had been beaming, practically radiating joy every time Muichiro was around. It was hard not to notice the way Genya's eyes lit up or how he seemed more relaxed, as if a weight had been lifted off his shoulders. Sanemi was proud of him, truly, but he couldn't help the pang of jealousy that crept in, knowing he couldn't share in that kind of happiness.

Instead, all he felt was confusion, frustration, and a dull, persistent ache that wouldn't go away.

Sanemi sighed, running a hand through his hair as he replayed the events of yesterday in his mind. Meeting his soulmate should have been a moment of clarity, of connection, but all it had done was raise more questions. Why had his soulmate run from him? Why had Sanemi been left with this uncomfortable knot in his chest, one that tightened every time he thought about the guy?

And why, despite everything, did he still want to see him again? To wrap his arms around him, to kiss him, to know everything about him?

"Damn it," Sanemi muttered, pressing the heels of his hands against his eyes in frustration. He knew it was probably normal to feel drawn to your soulmate, but this intensity, this overwhelming urge to be close to him, was unlike anything he'd ever experienced. It was terrifying and thrilling all at once.

But as if dealing with the confusion of his soulmate wasn't enough, there was Giyuu.

Sanemi had thought about Giyuu a lot today, maybe more than he should have. After the call with Sabito abruptly ended, Giyuu had gone silent. Sanemi hadn't received a single text or call from him all of yesterday afternoon, and while it was unusual, he didn't start worrying until he tried calling Giyuu around eight o'clock that night and got no answer. By nine, his worry had turned into full-blown anxiety as every call went straight to voicemail, and none of his texts were read.

He had texted Giyuu relentlessly, pleading for some kind of response, desperate to know that he was okay. But his phone remained stubbornly silent, and Sanemi was left with a pit in his stomach that only grew deeper as the night wore on.

When morning came, the first thing he did was check his phone. Nothing. No new notifications, no missed calls, no texts. Just the same unread messages staring back at him, mocking him. Sanemi had felt a jolt of panic then, sending one last text: *"Please text or call me when you get this... I need to know that you're okay!"* But, like all the others, it went unanswered.

The rest of the morning had been a blur of routine. Getting his siblings ready for school and daycare, saying goodbye to his mom, dropping everyone off. He went through the motions, but his mind was elsewhere, consumed by thoughts of Giyuu and the mystery surrounding his sudden disappearance.

Class had been a struggle. Sanemi couldn't focus, his thoughts constantly drifting back to Giyuu, wondering where he was, if he was okay, and why he wasn't responding. At the same time, his mind kept circling back to his soulmate, that brief encounter, and the storm of emotions it had unleashed within him.

By the time his lectures were done, Sanemi felt mentally exhausted. He checked his phone again, and finally, Giyuu had read his texts. Relief washed over him—at least Giyuu was alive—but it was quickly followed by a gut-wrenching feeling that made him feel sick. Giyuu had read his messages, but he hadn't responded. Not even a single word. Why?
