It's like a sudden invasion of my consciousness as if there's someone or something gently probing the edges of my consciousness. I squeeze my eyes shut as i hear soft murmurs echoing in my mind as if someone is whispering to me in a hushed tone.
"Stop" I whisper holding my head
"Elmira, Elmira," I hear over and over again in hushed tones making me feel even more confused and disoriented.
"Please stop" I say the voices getting louder.
"Elmira," Charles's voice projects into her mind with a calming but commanding presence.
"Who are you?!, stop this please."
"Please, calm yourself. I mean you no harm."
"Then get out of my head!"
"Elmira," the voice echoes gently in my mind, "don't be afraid. I am Charles Xavier."
"Ok did I ask? Why are you doing this?" My voice on the edge.
I feel the connection break"Because I understand you're alone and hurting."
I hear the mama voice though this time out of my head and I'm person. I wip my head around to my left. Quickly standing up almost startled. As I see a man in a wheelchair? Next to him is a tall slender man, lean with brown hair and thin framed round glasses perched on his nose.
"I could sense you from afar, the pain and fear you carry."
"What the fuck, who are you?" I say stepping back
"As I said before I am Charles Xavier.. or you could call me professor."
"No"
Charles sighs " I'm sorry for my sudden appearance... dear" he continues
"You don't have to carry it alone anymore. I'm here to help you understand and control your powers. You have the potential to become something extraordinary, to shape the world around you."
"So what you're going to ship me off to some island located in the middle of nowhere like in every other lab rats movie?" I say my voice laced with uncertainty
"Of course not Elmira, I run a school to help people like you, people, mutants that needed help. Like me. We are not freaks . We are gifted Elmira. We will provide you with the guidance, support, and training you need to control and understand your powers.
"I don't need help"
"I very much so doubt that... this is Hank McCoy, not only a colleague but a friend " he says jestering to the man beside him. "He's a brilliant intelligent scientist.. and a mutant at that."
Hank gave a soft smile and a small wave but never said a word.
"Ok so this school..? What's it like then"
"My school is a sprawling estate located in Westchester, New York, it serves as a school and a place to live. you can learn academics, self defense and combat and much anything else. It's a place where mutants can learn to harness their abilities and live in harmony with each other." Charles says softly
I play over his words in mind. I was having an internal battle with myself. I didn't have anyone to go to or anywhere else to go. I wasn't sure why I was so against the idea of it. A home. A place where I could finally not hide who I truly was.
"And if I join? I.. come with you?"
"If you join us," Charles replies with a warm and understanding smile, "You'll be surrounded by others like yourself, mutants who understand the unique challenges you face. You won't be alone in this journey."
I stand still my heart heavy with the weight of my situation. I know I have no one left for me here and the sense of isolation gnaws at my conscience. The thought of leaving behind the only familiarity i has left is unsettling, the prospect of learning to control my power, to belong with others who share my uniqueness, tugs at my heartstrings.
Uncertainty grips my mind, mingling with the fear of the unknown. My thoughts dance like the leaves of the trees caught between the comfort of solitude and the potential for connection.
"I'll join you."
