Professor Xavier steeples his fingers, his gaze focused on me with a keen interest. He rests in his wheelchair, a gentle smile on his face.
"Elmira," he begins, "I hope you're finding your time here to be comfortable and enjoyable."
He leans forward slightly, his dark eyes studying my expression. "I wanted to speak with you personally to check in. How are you adjusting to your new surroundings?"
I sit across from the Professor, my hands folding neatly in my lap. His kind regard puts me at ease somewhat.
"It's been good for the most part," I begin, my voice soft but steady. "I'm still adjusting to being in a new place and meeting new people. Everyone here has been very welcoming and kind to me."
I pause, my thoughts swirling before I continue, "but it's a big change from what I'm used to. It's a lot to take in."
He nods thoughtfully, his gaze still fixed on me with that familiar look of compassion.
"I understand. Adapting to a significant change in environment and meeting new people can indeed be challenging, especially after being homeschooled all your life. It's natural that you're feeling overwhelmed."
He continues, his eyes studying me. "Jean and Jubilee, who I understand you're spending time with, are wonderful girls. You're in good company with them."
"Yes, they are." I nod thoughtfully, my eyes shifting down for a moment before meeting the Professor's gaze again. "They're... different, but in a good way, I think. It's reassuring to be around people who are kind and accepting, especially in this new environment. I know I still have a lot to learn about them, but they've already shown me they're someone trustworthy and good to have around."
He smiles , "I'm glad you feel that way. It's essential to have people around you who you can trust and rely on during your time here."
He sits back in his wheelchair chair, his expression growing more serious. "Now, let's talk a little bit about the classes you'll be attending here. They're not the typical classes you may have experienced before. Can you guess why?"
I slump back in chair my hands playing with the loose string on my jeans
"Uh, because there's kids here that can literally shoot fire out of their hands, just to name one example?" I say
The Professor chuckles softly. "Well, you're not wrong. The students here do possess some very unique abilities, which is partially why their education is different. But that's not the only reason."
He leans forward again, his eyes meeting mine directly. "Our classes are designed to help these students develop not just their academics, but also their control over their abilities. The classes here are specialized to cater to their unique needs and challenges."
The Professor continues again, "As for your classes, I've arranged a special curriculum for you considering your ability. Here, we want to develop not only your academic potential, but also teach you to harness your power of air manipulation and tactical invisibility."
"I nod once again, looking at the professor, curiosity in my gaze. "And may I ask, what kind of classes will I be attending?"
He smiles at my curiosity. "Of course you can ask. You'll be attending classes such as History, Literature, Mathematics, Science, and various ability-specific classes, including a training for your abilities l. In addition, there'll be regular physical education, combat training, and self-defense classes, which are not only about fitness but also about developing combat skills that can be helpful in various situations. You'll also have access to art and music classes, and language classes if you're interested."
