Nie Zihang turned on the ventilation system at home and then plunged into the kitchen.

There was no food left at home, only frozen dumplings. He turned on the stove to boil water, preparing to cook some for Yu Jingxuan.

It was already the middle to late September, and H City had entered autumn. Coupled with the impact of the typhoon, the temperature these days was not high. The fish outside had been exposed to wind and rain for two whole days, so it was a good idea to have something warm to drink, like soup, to warm up.

After the water boiled, it emitted bubbling and steaming hot air.

Nie Zihang had just put the dumplings into the pot when the doorbell rang outside.

Just then, he noticed that Yu Jingxuan was standing at the door in plain clothes, without even holding an umbrella. His hair was wet from the rain, and strands of bangs were sticking to his forehead.

He looked dishevelled, like a helpless little animal in distress.

Even in such a state, this person was still thinking about going back to the police station to get the keys…

With a click, Nie Zihang opened the door, and the Alpha immediately entered the yard as if he knew the place well.

By the time the living room door was opened, Nie Zihang had already finished cooking the dumplings and placed them on the dining table.

The strong aroma of dumplings had replaced the almost dissipated scent of Omega pheromones in the room.

As Nie Zihang came out of the dining room, he saw the damp Alpha standing at the door, looking helpless and unsure of what to do.

After not seeing each other for two days, Yu Jingxuan had lost some weight. His cheekbones were more prominent, and there were dark circles under his eyes.

“You did not bring an umbrella?”

Nie Zihang took out a pair of slippers from the cabinet and asked him.

Yu Jingxuan appeared a bit uneasy and said, “On the day I went to work, I was a bit absent-minded and forgot to bring an umbrella. Unfortunately, all the umbrellas at the office had already been borrowed by others. I thought the rain was not going to be too heavy, so I decided to come back without one.”

Nie Zihang’s hand paused as he placed the slippers down.

On that day at work, it was the first day of his estrus period. It was obvious why Yu Jingxuan was absent-minded.

“Have you eaten? I cooked some dumplings. Let us go and have some dumplings, and warm up with a hot soup.”

As he spoke, Nie Zihang reached out and touched the hem of Yu Jingxuan’s clothes. “Your clothes are wet. Let me find you a clean set of pyjamas to change into first.”

After saying that, Nie Zihang hurriedly went to the upstairs bedroom.

Just as Yu Jingxuan finished putting on the slippers and looked up, the man who had been standing in front of him was now just a hurried figure going upstairs, leaving only his back view.

He did not even have a chance to say thank you.

The aroma of dumplings filled the room, making Yu Jingxuan’s stomach growl loudly. He had only eaten a few buns in the morning and had been holding on until now, so his stomach was already hungry.

He resisted for a while, but in the end, he could not resist the temptation of food. He slowly moved to the dining room, reluctantly.

Nie Zihang had already filled a bowl with dumplings and soup. On top of the soup, there was a layer of sesame oil, and he sprinkled some chopped green onions and cilantro on it. The aroma was so tempting that it made one’s mouth water.
