November 2014
ARIA Award Night

Harper

I was floating around backstage, weaving in and out of a hundred people running around. Trying my best to not run into anyone or freak out if I see a celebrity. Which, was getting hard to do seeing as I'm at an award show for famous people.

You would think that after all this time I would get used to this world, but here I am, freaking out internally and trying to not be self-conscious.

The boys are all at their seats, watching the awards in front of them. The next category is best international artist, which they were nominated for. Which is why I was trying to weave my way through people so I could get side stage. They were favored to win and I didn't want to miss it. I was almost there when they announced the category and started listing all the nominees, claps sounding through the building at each artist name.

I finally made it side stage right when they were opening the envelope. I took a deep breath and smoothed out my dress. It felt like they took forever to announce the winner, when in reality it was probably only thirty seconds. And there it was,

One Direction

I jumped up and down, cheering and clapping along with everyone else. I couldn't see them at first and then I saw them all walking up the stairs before shaking hands and hugging the announcers, taking hold of the award and moving to the mic. They gave their acceptance speech and then they were off and walking towards me.

I started clapping again, "you guys!" Niall reached me first and I gave him a big hug, "congrats!" I gave each of them a hug until I reached Harry. He swept me up into a hug, my feet leaving the ground momentarily.

"Congratulations sunshine." I whispered it in his ear and he gave me a final squeeze before setting me down.

"Thanks flower." He brushed a piece of hair out of my face and tucked it behind my ear, his hand lingering for a second. My head involuntarily leaned into his touch.

"Alright, lovebirds, we gotta go take some pictures." I turned to look at Louis, seeing a cheeky smile on his face.

"For the hundredth time, we are not a couple." He held his hands up in surrender, taking a step back, his cheeky smile still on display.

"Could've fooled me." Before I could respond he was running off, the rest of the boys following with a laugh. I rolled my eyes and turned to Harry.

"Will he ever stop with that joke?" He laughed a little.

"Not unless you stop reacting to it." He leaned down and gave me a kiss on the cheek with a wink, "I'll meet up with you when we're done."

I smiled with a nod, pushing him off in the direction the rest of the boys went to.

The next couple hours went by calmly, the boys performed Steal My Girl and then remained in their seats the rest of the night. I stayed side stage until the ceremony was nearing its end and then returned to the dressing room area to meet up with Lou.

"Hey! Where have you been?" Lou gave me scolding look.

"I was watching the show." I gave her my sweetest smile and plopped down on the couch. She turned around and put her hand on her hip.

"I don't pay you to watch the shows and have fun."

"Lou, you don't pay me at all." I laughed at her. She dropped her hand and stood up straight.

"Oh right, well. You'll never get to the after party if you just sit there. Get your butt up here and help me clean up." I laughed but stood up and went over to help her clean up the room. It didn't take us long to finish and soon we were dragging everything to the vans to load up for the night.
