Now
Harper
It's Christmas Eve and I'm freaking out, for more than one reason.
One; It's Christmas Eve and I have so much left to do, its sending me into a spiral.
Two; I've been seeing Harry a lot lately, and I don't know how to feel about it.
Three; I'm worried David will find out I've been hanging out with Harry and something bad will happen.
I'm waiting for Mari to arrive and for David to leave to really succumb to my panic. She's coming over to help me prep for dinner and tomorrow but while she's here I'm preparing to dump all my feelings on her and have her tell me I'm panicking for no reason, or to tell me I'm being stupid. Because at this moment, I dont know which way to think.
But for now, I'm forcing my brain to turn off as I run around the house like a headless chicken.
And, of course, just my luck, the doorbell rings when I'm cleaning the toilet. I yell for David through the open door,
"David? Can you get the door? It's Mari!" I didn't hear him respond but I also didn't hear the doorbell ring again so I went back to cleaning the toilet.
"Hey girly." I heard Mari's voice in the doorway and I turned my head to give her a smile. "David wanted me to tell you he left." She pointed her thumb out the door behind her and I let a small frown appear on my face.
"Oh. I wonder why he didn't say bye... oh well." I forced myself to not let it get to me and to put a smile back on my face, finishing up with the toilet and standing up straight. Mari gave me a look like she knew something was up but I smiled at her anyway.
"You ready to clean?" I gave her my best enthusiastic teacher voice, raising my hands in the air.
"You're lucky I love you." She rolled her eyes but held out her hand and I laughed while handing her gloves and some cleaner. "where should I start?"
"Kitchen?" She nodded her head, patting my butt when I turned around before she disappeared down the hall and back to the kitchen. About a minute passed before she turned on music, and when I heard what she played I sat up straight, my spine cracking from how quickly I stood up.
"Mari?!" I yelled for her but didn't get a response so I abandoned the sink and rushed off to find her. I walked in to see her dancing while washing the dishes to my worst nightmare.
A song about me. Little White Lies by One Direction.
"What are you doing?!"
"I'm cleaning?" She gave me a dumb look, a smile creeping up on her face. I scowled at her, trying to find the speaker or her phone but I couldn't find either.
"Where is it?"
"Why?"
"I just, I'm not a huge fan of this song."
"Oh, okay. Sure." She gave me a look like she knew I was lying, going back to the dishes and ignoring my pleas and searching for her phone. I took me about five minutes of searching and begging her to turn it off just for another song about me to come on for me to realize her face.
