1989's POV

I was just eating breakfast sitting at the table with my parents. Dad was reading the newspaper as always and mom was scolding him for it.

"We have new neighbors, did you talk with them Jack?" My mom started the conversation and took a sip of her espresso.

"Not yet honey, I heard they have a daughter your age 1989" he said, looking up from his newspaper and smiling at me. Was this TTPD?

"I think we should invite them for dinner today, they are new and it will probably be hard for their daughter to adapt to their new surroundings" the woman suggested looking at her husband.

"I think it's such a good idea" my dad replied kissing my mom on the cheek "Sorry but I have to go now otherwise I'll be late for work, have a nice day 1989!" he said, ruffling my hair.

"Dad!" I screamed because now I'll have to comb my hair again.

"Love you too buddy!" he shouted back as he left the house. I shook my head in disapproval and my mother started laughing.

A few classes passed and I was supposed to have French now. I entered the classroom, Midnights was not there- typical. She was going to be late again. I sat down in my seat and started unpacking when suddenly I felt someone sit down next to me. I was sure it was Mid and my heart started beating faster but when I looked up I noticed the same girl I passed yesterday.

"Uh hi" I greeted slightly disappointed. The girl was wearing dark brown pants and a cream sweater. She smiled slightly.

"Hello, I'm TTPD" she introduced herself confidently. Her voice was gentle but at the same time had something sharp in it.

"I'm 1989!" I introduced myself as well, TTPD smiled wider. "It's nice to meet you" I smiled at her. I know how she must have felt being alone in a new school filled with people who have known each other since kindergarten.

"You also chose French, right?" TTPD tried to start some conversation. She was really nice and I didn't think for the world that she would get kicked out of school.

I was about to answer her when Midnights interrupted me.

"Get out of my seat" she said it straight out, she was pissed off I could see it in her eyes.

"Oh, I'm TTPD, nice to meet you" she became a little embarrassed and stood up, still smiling.

"Well for me it's not" Midnights replied and I punched her in the shoulder. She looked at me and a smile crept across her lips.

"I think I should go find a seat, it was great talking to you 1988"

"It's 1989, dumbass" Midnights said and I glared at her. It was kind of cute but it doesn't excuse her for being mean.

"TTPD wait! There is a free seat next to us, please sit there" When I said this Midnights looked at me in disbelief and rolled her eyes. "I'm sorry" I whispered to the new student, apologizing for Mid's behavior.

The teacher came to the classroom announcing that we had a new student and starting the lesson. I was surprised by Midnights behavior because during that hour she didn't say a word to me. Usually she was either nudging me or talking to me the whole time but this time nothing. She didn't even look at me. When I helped the TTPD understand the task, Midnights just sighed with irritation.

There was a strange tension between us, I didn't know what was going on or why Midnights was so angry. Had I done something?

The lesson finally ended and I left the classroom. I wanted to wait for TTPD to support her on her first day of school but I noticed that she had started talking to the teacher. I wanted to talk to Midnights but I didn't see her anywhere so I headed towards the cafeteria since it was lunch break.
