Aleena's Point of View:
If you don't stand up for something, you'll fall for anything.

_______________
It's been days since I last seen anyone. All of civilization was locked away from me by the metal doors kept shut in the front of the room. I hadn't seen Noah, the guards or anyone in a while. They had locked me up in a dark room with a small window ten feet up, shining only a little bit of light when the moon or the sun were in the center of the sky. The walls were dark and dusty. The air was heavy with the smell of metal from outside the room, and the little bed I sat on was already coming to its end. An eerie silence always hovered over me, and I just sat there and thought.
Staring at the wall, I traced my finger over the marks I had made and counted. Six marks. It's been six days. Six days I have been cooped up in a small, closet like area with no bathroom or water except a little shoot where they tossed down food every once in awhile. The darkness rendered all the possible heat that could've come from the sun, and left only a cold, and dark shadow cascading down upon the room. To say it was freezing was an understatement.
I sighed and watched as my finger lingered on the dusty carving on the wall. It trailed down the mark when I looked up and watched the sun glare through the window bars. The light caused a faint glow to envelop the top half of the room, and I watched the wall come to life. Every dust, and speck shined when the lights reflected against it. The obsidian wall reflected the light to the other side of the room, and I sighed.
I sat down on the ground and crossed my feet underneath me. Something worried me. These past couple of days, the base was too quiet. No one ever came to talk to me, or even check up on me. I didn't hear walking in the hallways anymore. It was as if everyone was gone. I fiddled with a loose string on my tattered up dress and watched as my thoughts wandered back to Noah.
He hasn't visited me these last couple of days either. Usually, he came and checked up on me, but now I just had this odd feeling about him. I had this feeling that he was in trouble. I knew him and the chief were never on good terms by the way he spoke of him when he came to help last time. He was afraid of him. Not in the way many would think. It's more psychological, like the chief had a mental toll on him. I closed my eyes and let out a prolonged breath. I didn't have time to think about Noah right now. I had to find a way out.
There was a lot of commotion outside, so I placed my ear on the door to listen when it slowly started to turn. The punching of numbers seemed to take me out of my thoughts, and I quickly jumped and scooted to the far end of the room, in the shadows. My back slammed against the far wall but I tried my best to remain quiet when boots started to clamp into the room.
The massive doors opened, and I watched as a group of men, all dressed alike in uniform start to walk into the room. I recognized the first one as the man who slapped me and instantly my heart froze up. My fingers trembled when their eyes zeroed in on my crouched figure. My heart gently slowed when Noah appeared from behind one of the blonde solders. His eyes locked on mines, and I watched his face go stone cold and him avert his gaze. His eyes roamed around the room, as if determined not to look at me again.
My mind was jumbled from his lack of acknowledgment, and I became completely oblivious of the fact that the chief was now within an inch of my face. I jumped and slammed my head against the cold wall, and almost cried out when his rough and cold hand gripped my jaw. He shoved my face to the right, and I winched in pain when he let out a laugh; his smelly breath fanning across my face.
"Still reluctant are we?" I clenched my teeth and tried to pry my face from his hands when he held it even tighter. I felt like my jaw was going to rip off, and cried out. He simply laughed and shook his head. A man about his age stood from behind him and came down on one leg to peer into my face.
