All the leaves are brown (all the leaves are brown)
And the sky is gray (and the sky is gray)
I've been for a walk (I've been for a walk)
On a winter's day (on a winter's day)
I'd be safe and warm (I'd be safe and warm)
If I was in L.A. (if I was in L.A.)Hailey swayed to the melody of the song. She couldn't wait for the fall to come it was close. Fall was her favorite season. Everything pumpkin and the changing leaves were her favorite. Right now she was on her way to Starbucks for a London Fog since she couldn't have her favorite coffee because of the baby growing inside her. She had just finished thrifting for maternity clothes because she was not willing to waste money on clothes that she was only going to use during her pregnancy.
The other great thing about going into a Starbucks was the smell. If she couldn't have coffee than the smell would have to do. She got into line and looked at the baked goods. When she got to ordering she had made up her mind on a banana nut slice and a grande London fog. As she pulled her wallet out to pay she was told that her stuff had been paid for already and the barista pointed to the corner of the store. Hailey instinctively turned to look only to see the green eyes and smirk from Harry. Why? She smiled at the barista and moved out of the way.
She couldn't ignore him after he had paid for her stuff. "Thank you for that. You didn't have to." She said as she stood by the table he sat.
"Why not? I wanted to. It's nice seeing you again. Three is the charm, isn't it?" He asked gesturing for her to have a seat. "I think the world is trying to tell us something don't you think?"
Hailey shrugged, "or you're some stalker guy." She smiles.
"Hmmm, I'd would've of preferred to be a serial killer in that case. But then you would be dead by now though." He answers shrugging his shoulders.
"So, a Ted Bundy copycat?" She asks playing with the keys in her hand.
"Are you a college student?" He asked making her stare at him. "Didn't think so. The truth I'm neither a stalker nor serial Killer. I'm just plain Harry that does enjoy seeing crime shows."
"Well plain Harry, I'm the queen of crime shows and I'm not that plain. Even though I do prefer Vanilla. So, you tell me then why is it that we continue to bump into each other?" She asks.
Harry looks pensive and sticks his tongue out for a sec, "I really don't know but I don't mind finding out. I think you're nice why can't we be friends?"
She nods, "okay friend." Hailey says to him as she stands to get her drink and banana nut slice. When she came back, she cleared her throat, "So where are you from Harry? Because you have an accent."
"Okay so I may be English but I'm here for now." He shrugs, "I like America."
"I'd like to see England one day!" Hailey said with a smile before she bit into her bread. God, she didn't understand how now everything tasted even better. Maybe it was the baby, but this bread was delicious. She forgot she was sitting with Harry as she closed her eyes and enjoyed her food.
"You really are making that bread look like it delicious." He chuckles bringing her back to where she was.
"I think it is. It could be that I'm hungry though." She mumbled taking a drink of her tea.
"I didn't picture you as a tea person," Harry said pointing to her cup. "I thought that was an English thing."
"I love coffee I just can't have any right now, so I opted for tea. Tea is good but not as much as the English drink it." She says trying to control her urge to shove the rest of her bread in her mouth.
"I agree." He says smiling at her, "finish your bread Hailey don't stop because of me."
God she probably looked like such a pig, but she really wasn't. Man, these cravings were going to be the death of her. She smiled shyly as she took another piece into her mouth. "So, since we are friends now maybe I should tell you that I normally don't eat like this." She put her hair behind her ear, "I just well right now I'm having these terrible cravings that I just must have."
Harry chuckles and clears his throat, "I'm not saying anything."
"I just feel like I should explain myself. I'm pregnant and well all these things come with being pregnant." She says finally feeling a bit better now that she got it out. She told this hot new stranger that she was pregnant so now he would excuse himself and she will never have to worry about him. He would stop trying to talk to her.
"Wow congratulations. It must be in the first stages because you don't look pregnant." He said just staring at her with the same smile on his face.
"That's right." She stated eyeing him, "why are you still here? I just told you I'm pregnant and you haven't run for the hills." She asked him.
He shrugs, "I've had pregnant friends before. Doesn't change anything I'd still like to be your friend. I'm a little bummed that you are married or together with someone. But that is just my ego, I'm a guy." He says taking a drink from his cup.
Hailey laughed and shook her head, "I'm not married or together with anyone. Not ready for that yet. I'm carrying my sister's baby." She saw the confused face he was making trying to understand what she was saying, "my sister and her husband have been trying to have a baby for so long and they couldn't. My sister kept miscarrying the babies. So, then they told me about a surrogate and how she was looking for one. I just had to do it. The baby growing in me is all her and my brother-in-law I'm just lending them the oven for it to bake."
He was now smiling at her and she felt a bit awkward, "you are a good sister. Very selfless of you to do that." He smirks, "kind of makes you a bit hotter to be honest."
God why was he not like a normal guy? Now she knew she was blushing. Could he be anymore nicer? "I don't know how that makes me hotter when I will be bloated like a balloon soon enough." She said now looking at her cup of tea trying to ignore his stare.
He shrugs again, "it's how nice you are in the inside not the physical appearance. Not that you are not pretty." He taps his fingers on the table to grab my attention again, "What are you doing tonight? If you are not busy let's, go watch a movie my treat?"
She looked at him and his beautiful green eyes and that dimple, "I can't today. I already promised my sister I'd go to hers for dinner. I kind of been going over to her's for dinner since I accepted being there surrogate. They want me to eat healthy and what not. Maybe tomorrow? I can make an excuse and not go."
"I'm working till eight tomorrow I don't think we will make it in time for a movie." He answers.
"Well how about we watch one at my house tomorrow? I will have popcorn and treats." She says not even really thinking about it.
"Okay just send me your address and I'll bring take out. Chinese, okay?" he asks as he takes her phone and inputs his number in it.
"As long as you have steamed rice and orange chicken its fine." Hailey answers taking her phone back and sending him her address. "I'll see you there then. I really have to go. My mother is waiting on me for something."
"Okay I'll see you tomorrow." He says smiling as he shook her hand.
She smiled and quickly got out of there. Finally, what she had done hit her. She was inviting a total stranger to her house to watch a movie and eat. God why was she doing this? It was definitely not her it was her hormones. She had to admit she was very attracted to that man. "Lord help me, you know this is not me." She then curses in her head damning Johny for bringing up the hormones while being pregnant!
