So we all know how the original story goes right?
Nini posts a song on Instagram to tell Ricky she loves him, Ricky doesn't know how to respond, but when he does he tells her that they should slow down and take a break since they wouldn't be able to talk much when she is at theater camp.
Fast forward to the first day of school, Ricky believes he and Nini will get back together but Nini tells him she met someone at camp and they had a showmance.
Ricky is obviously confused but also hurt. At lunch we find out Nini is dating EJ Caswell, the school's water polo captain and Ricky is understandably jealous.
Ricky has the crazy idea to audition for the school musical, High School Musical: The Musical, as a way for Nini to see him differently and hope that they would get back together. He ends up getting the role of Troy while Nini gets Gabriella and EJ gets Chad.
Tons of drama happens but in the end the show is a success and Ricky and Nini end up back together.
But what if this story wasn't about any of that?
What if instead of Nini being the only one that decided that it was a breakup instead of a break, Ricky thought so too?
What if Ricky decided to also move on to someone else?
What if that someone was one of his best friends since kindergarten, Carly Blackwell.
But what if instead of it being a showmance like Nini and EJ or just a summer fling or something, it was the real deal?
How would this change the story now that Ricky isn't chasing Nini and trying to win her back?
How will Nini react to the news that Ricky found someone new?
What if Ricky still decides to audition for the musical but for Carly's sake, not Nini's?
How will EJ react to this (since he wouldn't have to focus on Ricky trying to Nini to win her back)?
Find out the answers to these questions and more in Together through it all!
About Carly/Important info that leads up to the prologue:
Meet Carly Aurora Blackwell. She's 16 almost 17, she's a junior at East High and she is one of Ricky Bowen's best friends and recently turned girlfriend.
She has lived in Salt Lake City her whole life with her family, which consists of: her mother, Elizabeth Blackwell, her father, Liam Blackwell and her older sister, Charlotte Blackwell (you won't see them much in this book but they'll be in here some and mentions of them will pop up sometimes too).
Her friend group is what I would call "large but small".
Sounds confusing right? Well let me explain.
It's large in the sense that she knows and is friendly with a lot of people, but small in the sense that her core group of friends does not contain a lot of people.
So her actual "core group" consists of: Luna, her best friend since childhood, Emily, who she met at the skate park, Chloe, Jasmine, Amanda and Grace, from dance class and of course Ricky and Big Red.
She's also friends with people from numerous clubs and sports she has been in/still is a part of. But they aren't part of the core group, they're considered part of the outer circle, still important but not as close to her as the core group.
*Here's a list of the clubs/sports Carly is a part of (list may expand as the story goes on): drama club/theater, dance, ice skating, choir, photography, cooking/baking, art, yearbook, cheerleading, and gymnastics. She also skateboards, she writes songs and plays guitar, piano and a few other instruments.*
