[ I know that Scott may seem out of character but I feel like he was just a grouch the whole movie bc of the wrangler's and his uncle. but he can loosen up around javi and blake and emma grace ya know?

it'll probably be a few more chapters than i planned before tyler shows up tho. genuinely don't have a solid plan for this book. I'm just going with the vibes ]

THE FIRST TIME SCOTT PICKED UP EMMA GRACE FROM BALLET PRACTICE, he was on cloud nine over the thought that Blake trusted him with something so important. They'd only known each other two months, but she trusted him alone with the most important person in her life even if only for half an hour.

It hadn't been the plan initially, but one of the PAR units had sustained some damage in a storm, and Blake was tangled up working on it — literally, as she had to completely redo the internal wiring. And Javi was busy on the phone with Riggs, who wanted to talk to him about his next installment.

So, Blake had quite literally begged Scott for his help, even though she didn't need to. As soon as the words "Can you do me a huge favor?" left her mouth, he was prepared to say yes to anything. And he didn't consider making the eleven minute drive from the office to the ballet studio that big of a favor.

Blake had made a call to the ballet instructor and gave her an exact description of Scott while he was driving, letting her know who would be picking Emma Grace up.

Scott had never been inside a ballet studio, so he carefully poked his head into several rooms before stumbling across the one that Emma Grace was in. She was in the middle of lacing up her sneakers, still in a purple leotard with sparkles all over it as she did so.

"I'm here to pick up Emma Grace," Scott said, speaking to the teacher who was putting up spare tutus that they'd been using in class. "I'm Scott Miller. Blake said she'd call. You're Mrs. Penny?"

"Yes," the teacher said with a smirk. "She said a man that looks like Superman in a nerdy polo shirt was picking her up."

Blake would've stomped on the older woman's feet were she there knowing that she was embarrassing her. But the thirty-nine-year old teacher couldn't help it, not when a man in Blake's life was showing interest toward Emma Grace.

The tips of Scott's ears turned red even though he was smiling. "I, um, I guess that's me."

"Hi, Scott," Emma Grace said, bounding over.

"Hey, Emma Grace," he said, using her full name like he knew she preferred. "Have a good class?"

"It was great. Allison G tripped while we were working at the barre," she snickered. "I don't like Allison G — Allison W is nice though."
