"Wow that's impressive."
The voice rang throughout the chamber disrupting Yongbok's focus, as if the voice has washed his daze of art like alcohol in his mind. Before he reacts he finds his hands working rather faster, spoiling his work of hours within a mere second by the dark red pigment.
His breath stucked at his throat with an unknown fear creeping in his mind yet what he was doing? What he was actually doing? What the fuck that supposed to mean?
"Master Yongbok?"
Felix flinched at the voice, trying to calm the storm in his heart as he observed his ruined painting. And for the precision, unintentionally, he had splashed the pigment on only the blonde figure and the king's frame wasn't touched a bit.
He swallowed thickly, that looks and sounds so unrealistic..how could he imagine such thing, oh was he so lost in lust or lust of art.
"Are you alright?"
Felix gulped turning around to witness the person asking him with concern, his eyes widened when he saw the Queen was there. Thanks to almighty, he succeeded to ruined the painting before the queen saw it.
Felix tried to compose himself, "I'm fine, your majesty, thank you for the concern," Felix bowed. Queen nodded, holding the bewilderment yet unsettlement in her eyes.
"Why did you ruined the painting, I was intrigued to see it?" Queen asked, her tone disappointed. She looked at Felix's face, panic written all over his face then she craned her head to observe the painting.
Felix was trembling, succeeding to keep it inside. "I didn't ruin it, your majesty, it's an art format," he could consider that this is the first time he lied which wasn't seemed convincing.
What type of art format is this, painting a half as red while another half as a beautiful scenery of king's majestic figure.
But for a person with no knowledge of painting, queen find that as a true masterpiece.
"Wow, it's so cool, it seemed like the happy and shiny space of our life contrasting with gloominess and troubles of our life. This what it supposed to mean, am I right painter?" The queen asked, she sounds so ectastic as if she has explained a biggest unsolved mystery of history.
Felix was confused, but it seems good to go with the flow of thoughts of queen, so he just nodded offering a smile to her.
"See, how good I'm analysing paintings.. my king taught me, it's surprising he has a lot of knowledge of paintings and arts..and a good analyser." Aana turned her attention to yongbok, giving him, her proud smile in which Felix nodded wearing that awkward smile.
The king.. as Anna bring his name, Felix felt the shivers running down to his spine and surprisingly it wasn't the shiver of fear..yet a desirable signals to his petite figure. That somewhere in the corners of his heart he was asking where the king is?
"You're indeed a good analyser, your majesty. I'm glad that I'm able to showcase my skills to a person who can understand it."
Anna nodded, her figure holding coverage of raoyality.
"Painter, I want to show you the royal paintings, would you like explore?" Anna asked, giving her reason for why she came in his chamber.
"I would be so glad." Yongbok nodded.
"Ok, let's go, I'll show you our royal emblems." She said, as she walked ahead. Felix merely give a glance to his spoiled painting, has a gentle smile on his lips for which he himself was unaware. His attention drifted to the queen, following her.
Felix followed closely behind the Queen, his mind still reeling from the ruined painting and the close call he'd narrowly escaped. His heart thudded in his chest, but he forced himself to calm down, knowing that any sign of unease might draw unwanted attention. He couldn’t afford to let the Queen see how much that moment had shaken him.
As they walked through the dimly lit corridors, the only sound was the gentle echo of their footsteps. The Queen’s figure moved gracefully ahead, her royal gown brushing against the cold stone floor, and Felix couldn’t help but glance at her, wondering if she had noticed more than she let on.
He shifted his gaze to the towering walls lined with portraits of past rulers. The eyes of the painted kings and queens seemed to follow him, judging silently, and it sent another ripple of discomfort through him. His hands twitched slightly at his sides as the memory of the red pigment spilling over the blonde figure played in his mind again.
"Here," the Queen's voice broke his thoughts, soft but commanding. She turned, her delicate fingers pointing toward a grand painting hung in the center of the gallery. "This is one of our most treasured royal emblems."
Felix’s eyes followed her gesture, landing on a massive portrait of a young king standing beside a throne. The figure was tall and striking, his golden crown gleaming against the dark background. The detail in the painting was impeccable, every brushstroke so deliberate it made the king’s presence almost feel real. Felix swallowed hard, recognizing the resemblance to the current king.
"This," the Queen began with a quiet smile, "is one of the first portraits of our dynasty's founders. The artist captured his majesty’s power and elegance perfectly, don't you think?"
Felix stepped closer, his eyes trailing over the king's stern face and the commanding posture. "It's… magnificent," he managed to say, though his voice came out shakier than intended. His eyes couldn’t leave the king's figure. That same shiver—the one that wasn't of fear—crept back into his spine.
The Queen’s eyes flickered towards him, catching his reaction. “You’re quite taken with it, I see. The presence of our kings has that effect on many.”
Felix blinked, pulling himself together. “Yes, your majesty. It’s truly a masterpiece.”
Her lips curved into a knowing smile. “I thought you might appreciate it. You seem to have a fine eye for detail, painter.”
Felix offered a tight-lipped smile in return, his chest tightening with a strange anticipation. He couldn’t shake the feeling that every mention of the king left a deeper mark on him, and it terrified him how much he didn’t mind that.
“Would you like to see more?” she asked, her tone soft but laced with intrigue.
Felix hesitated for a moment, glancing once more at the king’s portrait before nodding. “Of course, your majesty. I would be honored.”
The Queen turned on her heel, leading him further into the gallery, her pace unhurried, as though she had all the time in the world. But as Felix followed, he couldn’t help but feel the weight of unseen eyes on him, watching, waiting.
As they walked ahead, the corridors seemed streching it's length. Felix was nonchalance as his mind was dancing like a leaf because of storm. He didn't realise that queen has stopped.
"My king you are here?" The queen spoke.
