The Phantom Soldier (Bucky Barnes x Reader)

Steve and I where still in our suits so we grabbed some of the backup dancers helmets to protect our heads. Steve informed me that Peggy and Stark are going to help us get behind the lines.

We are now on the plane while Peggy is telling us about the plan. "The Hydra base is in Krausburg, tucked between two mountain ranges. It's a factory of some kind." She said looking back and forth at me and Steve. "We should be able to drop you right on the door step." Stark said looking back. "Just get us as close as you can. You two are going to be in a lot of trouble when you land." Steve said smirking. "And you won't?" Peggy fired back. "Where we're going anybody yells at us, we can just shoot them." He said. "The will undoubtedly shoot back." Peggy said looking into his eyes. "So... no one gonna talk to me?" I asked them as they held contact, they didn't even glance at me. Steve has a crush. "Let's hope it's good for something." He smiled and hit his shield. I know that look all to well, they have a crush on each other. "Agent Carter?! If we're not in too much of a hurry, I thought we could stop in Lucerne for a late night fondue." Stark asked, but he put it in a flirty way. Fondue does sound good right now though. Shit, Steve is going to take that the wrong way. Then there was an awkward silence between the two. I knew it. "Stark is the best civilian pilot I've ever seen. He's mad enough to brave this airspace. We're lucky to have him." She said trying to break the silence. Steve still looks confused. I moved upfront to thank Stark. "Hey, I wanted to thank you Stark" I said. "It's the least I can do." He simply said. "So, are you two... do you..." Shit I know where this is going, Steve you idiot. Peggy tilted her head in confusion. "Fondue?" He said pointing at both of them. "Idiot" I said loud enough for home to hear me, and then I slap my hand to my forehead. Peggy shook her head and looked at me. While I just giggled and mouthed the words "I'm so sorry" to her. She then reach for something in her pocket and showed both of us. "This is your transponder. Activate it when you are ready, and the signal will lead us straight to you." She instructed us. "Will do." I said saluting her as we laughed. "You sure this thing works?" Steve shouted to Stark. "It's been tested more than you two have been, pal" he joked. "Good one Stark" I said smiling. Then all of the sudden the plane starts to shake and we are being hit with bullets. I jump up and make my way to the door. "Get back here! We're taking all the way in!" Peggy says with slight fear in her voice. I open the door and look back at her. "Get out of here as fast as you can! Thank you Peggy!" I say as I salute her then the next thing I know is I'm in the air. Soon I see Steve falling beside me. Our parachutes go off as we get closer to the ground. When I landed I had no sign of Steve. "Shit." I mumble. "Steve!" I shouted. "Behind you." He said, when I turned around he motioned me to be quiet and follow him. "Look, we can hop in the back of those trucks." I whispered. We hid behind a bush and let all of them pass, and soon we where jumping into the last truck. To our surprise there where 2 men in the back. "Well hello fellas." I said. They tried to grab their guns but I kneed one of them in the head then threw him out while Steve took care of the other one.

We finally reached the base. A guard opened the truck and Steve took him out quickly. "That was easier than I thought" I said. Steve looked at me and then began moving inside the building. We came across a door so me and Steve came up with a plan. Tap tap tap. The guard opened the door then we knocked him out, you would think a place like this would have smarter security. We began sneaking behind crates to get passed the rest of the guards, soon the coast was clear and we saw what looked to be the same serum injected into us. I looked at Steve confused and he starred back at me. He grabbed one of the vials and put it in his pocket, I could not tell you why because I don't really think it matters. We ran down a flight of stairs to find the cells. There where guards walking along the top of them, I looked at Steve and he nodded back. Gesturing for me to take the man down. Hell yes. It was super easy all I had to do was elbow him in the back of the head and, boom, he was on the ground. I took the keys off of the guard as Steve joined my side. "Who are you supposed to be?" One of the soldiers asked. "I'm Captain America-" I cut Steve off to talk myself. "And I'm the one and only Lady America." I said smirking at them. "I beg your pardon?" One of them asked, he sounded German. We jumped down and unlocked their cells. My eyes immediately began scanning the crowd. "What are we, taking everybody?" Some random man asks. I ignore his question to the guy and ask mine. "I'm looking for Sargent James Barnes." At the same time I hear Steve ask. "Is there anybody else? I'm looking for Sargent James Barnes" the same man I just saw said, "there's an isolation ward in the back of the factory, but no one's ever come back from it." At this my mind thinks for the worse, what if he's dead? I look at Steve. "Steve I'm going to find him, catch up with me." I say running off. I'm running down a hallway when I see a short stubby man rush out of a room. Then Steve shows up next to me. He looks scared and then runs off. That's when I hear it, a familiar voice. "Sargent, 32557-" He keeps repeating this. It's James. I run into the room Steve following me. "James!" I exclaimed. "Bucky." Steve said concerned. James looked like he had been through hell and back. He had bruises and cuts on his temples and face. He stared blankly at the ceiling. "Oh my god..." Steve said. I started ripping off the restraints that kept him tied down, then Steve did the same. Finally, James showed some sign he was there. He finally looked at us when Steve grabbed his face. "It's me, it's us! Steve and y/n" Steve said scanning James's face. James then looked at me and smiled. "Y/n." Then he looked at Steve. "Steve?" He still looked dazed. "Come on James. We have to get you up." I said as I started to pull him off the chair. "We thought you where dead." Steve said to James. "I thought you where smaller." James said looking Steve up and down. "And what are you doing here, Doll?" He said looking at me. "Long story" I said looking at him.
