It was already midnight when they saw a board with Vaani Nagar written on it. The board said that there were still 5 km left to cover to reach Vaani Nagar. They were in the middle of the forest with no source of light.
It is already so dark I think we should rest here. You haven't eaten anything since we met. Take this!
Kaal stared at Dhara as he took the apple from her hands.
Don't stare at me like that, I didn't poison it!!
Umm, I reckon we need to spend the night here.
"Yes," Kaal said as he took a bite of the apple.
Kaal had just completed eating the apple when he saw Dhara climbing up a tree. She went and sat on a branch of the tree and yelled from there " Kaal come here, look this is so beautiful. The night sky looks so gorgeous. " "Come naaaa" she yelled again.
He couldn't ignore her anymore when she started yelling louder.
"Why are you so weird?" he asked. He climbed up the tree and sat beside her.
"You finally opened your mouth. You should talk. You aren't as bad as they described it to me"
"What did they describe me as?"
"They said that you are Kaal. You are scary, arrogant, cold-hearted, and indifferent to others. You get angry easily. You don't care about others."
"They didn't lie. Aren't I scary, cold-hearted, etc?"
"No, not at all. They all are fools. You aren't cold-hearted and you don't get angry easily. Because if it was true you would have killed me long ago given that I am so annoying. And you are not arrogant. If you were arrogant then you wouldn't have tried to comfort me when I lost. And you do care about others if you didn't then why are you going with me when you know how dangerous it is to go there? You are not indifferent, you just talk less about looking scary, they are fools to say that! You are so handsome and you look so cute when you blush with all your cheeks turned red!" Dhara chuckled as she said the last line. She pulled his cheeks again and started to laugh again when she saw him turn red again."
"You think so?" he asked still smiling over her last line.
"Yes! See, see you look so good when you smile. I don't have a mirror right now otherwise I would have shown how handsome you look while smiling. You should laugh and smile more often now, okay"
She was about to pull his cheeks again when he grabbed her wrist.
"Men and women should maintain a distance from each other. You touching me like this is inappropriate."
This time it was Dhara's turn to blush. It was at that moment that she noticed how near she was sitting to him. With just their hands in between, they stared deep into each other's eyes.
Dhara pulled her hand back and asked him to find himself a place to sleep as she is tired now and wants to catch up with some sleep. She said these while stuttering the whole time.
Kaal got down from the tree and found himself a place to take a rest.
Not long after Dhara got down from the tree and started walking and stopped when she found a small lake.
She took out her sword and started to swing it. She hurt herself while doing that. When she noticed the blood running down she stopped. She went and sat near the lake when tears started to flow down her eyes. Dhara then took out the handkerchief that her brother had given to her.
"Brother, do you remember as a child when we used to fight each other with that wooden sword? You used to check me out every time after fighting even when we used wooden swords instead of real swords. But now when I got hurt while using the blade you are not here anymore to check my wounds out. It's not just you. There's no one for me. I realized that only you used to take care of me others were just fulfilling their duties. I miss you, brother. Please come back, see blood is flowing so hard. I might die if you don't come. I can't even cry in front of others because you said I look ugly when I cry and no one will marry me if they see my ugly side. I am waiting for you to come and hug me while I cry to my heart's content
I miss you, brother."It was at this moment that someone pulled the handkerchief from her hands.
