Nurses at St. Louis Mental Health Facility

After an agonizing nine-hour drive, we finally arrived at the imposing gates of the famous St. Louis Mental Health Facility.

As we unloaded our luggage, Sir Art kept reminding us to be polite to the staff and to Dra. Lucy. He also mentioned that this was a private facility, which explained why it looked more like an oversized house with dorms than a typical hospital.

Bumukas ang malaking gate at bumungad sa amin ang nakangiting mukha ng dalawang guard. They seemed amused by our arrival, likely glad that we would be helping out in their secluded establishment.

"Sir, kumusta ang byahe?" one of the guards warmly asked our clinical instructor.

While Sir Art engaged in conversation, I noticed my group mates buzzing with excitement about finally getting to handle real-life psychiatric patients. Some were practicing therapeutic techniques, while others snapped selfies, likely eager to post about their "noble" work. The sight made me scoff, so I put on my earphones to drown out the chatter.

Suddenly, I felt an arm drape over my shoulder. It was Aiahn, as expected, with that irritating grin plastered on his face. He looked excited, but not for the same reasons as me. I was eager to meet Lilith, a DID patient with a murder in her hands. The thought of interacting with someone like me sent a rush of adrenaline, a morbid thrill I couldn't quite shake.

Aiahn mumbled something I couldn't quite catch-though, I wasn't really listening. His words barely registered until he nudged me again.

"Sa tingin' mo ba, may magandang nurse sa loob?" he asked, his grin even wider.

I rolled my eyes, not bothering to hide my irritation. "Ask the guards," I replied sarcastically, shrugging off his arm.

"Eh ikaw nga ang tinatanong ko. What do you think?" He persisted, clearly not getting the hint.

"Hindi ko nga alam," I snapped at him, keeping my answer short.

"Fine, but I bet there's one," he said, peering past the gate.

My attention shifted to a woman in scrubs walking towards us, holding a white folder and smiling sweetly.

When I looked beside me, Aiahn was no longer there; he was out front now, showing his more desirable qualities to the nurse, unfortunately, he didn't have any desirable qualities. Then, Sir Arthur intervened and greeted her. After their chatter, the nurse came in front of us.

"Good evening, nurses!" the nurse greeted us cheerfully, her voice cutting through the murmur of the group.

Everyone responded in unison, while I stayed silent, observing.

"So, before everything else, I'm Nurse Aira, but they call me Nurse 'Rara' here," she introduced herself in a tone more suited for children. "Sir Art will take you to your dorms to settle in. And then around 7 p.m., Kuya Bert will escort you to the orientation room." she explained further.
