A sudden, sharp knock on the door pierced the quiet of the room. Paridhi's heart raced, and she instinctively jumped on her place.

Abhimaan quickly wrapped his strong arms around her trembling form.

He pulled her more close, and began to gently rub soothing circles on her arm.

"Shh, it's okay, bachha," he whispered softly into tickling her skin.

"I'm here"

Paridhi's tension began to melt away at his touch and reassuring words.

She leaned back into him, drawing comfort from his presence.

Abhimaan reached over to the nightstand where the intercom was kept. His voice took on a sharp edge as he barked into the device,

"Who is it?"

A timid voice crackled through the speaker.

"Hukum, .... Badi Rani sa is requesting Rani sa's presence."

Without bothering to respond, Abhimaan set the intercom down with a bit more force than necessary.

He turned his attention back to Paridhi, who was snuggled in his chest.

Her large, doe-like eyes blinked rapidly, a mix of curiosity and lingering nervousness evident in her gaze.

Abhimaan couldn't help but smile at her adorable expression.

He leaned down, pressing a soft, chaste kiss to her lips. The effect was immediate.

Paridhi's cheeks and ears blazed a vibrant crimson, and she quickly buried her face against his chest, her small hand coming to rest over his heart.

"Maa sa is calling" Abhimaan murmured.

His fingers now running through her silky hair. Paridhi sighed contentedly at his gentle touch.

"Hmm," she hummed in acknowledgment, but made no move to leave his embrace.

Instead, she snuggled even closer, if that was possible.

Abhimaan chuckled, the sound reverberating through his chest.

"Was my Rani sa missing me so much that now she can't bear to leave me?" he teased, his voice warm with affection.

Paridhi's blush, which had started to fade, returned full force. She stammered,

"R-Rana sa..."

"Ji Rani sa?" Abhimaan prompted, thoroughly enjoying her bashfulness.

(Yes Rani sa)

"You... you should leave me," Paridhi managed to say, though her actions contradicted her words as she clung tighter to him.
