I know this is wrong because it doesn't feel real
Melani drove through Atlanta's streets, Tink's soulful voice filling her car. "Different" echoed her emotions – uncertainty and longing.
Arriving at Sevyn's house, Melani's nerves fluttered. What would this night bring?
She stepped out, evening air enveloping her, carrying blooming flowers' scent.
Sevyn opened the door, eyes locking onto hers. "Hey."
Melani smiled, feeling awkwardness. "Hey."
Sevyn stepped aside, letting her in. Silence between them was palpable.
Melani's thoughts swirled, What am I doing here? Can I trust him?
We've been friends, lovers, and everything in between. Our history's complicated, she thought.
Sevyn broke the silence. "Mel, I'm sorry. For dismissing you, for not listening."
Melani's eyes met his, heart pounding. She wanted to scream, demand answers. But she remained quiet.
"I appreciate your apology," Melani said finally.
Sevyn's eyes searched hers. "And I'm sorry for hurting you."
Melani's gaze dropped. "I overreacted too. I'm sorry."
Deep down, Melani longed for Sevyn's touch, love. But she wouldn't admit it aloud.
Sevyn nodded, relief etched on his face. "Let's start over."
Melani smiled, hope glimmering. "Let's."
On the couch, Sevyn asked, "Want to talk about us?"
Melani hesitated before nodding.
Conversation flowed, discussing past hurts, misunderstandings.
"I felt ignored, unimportant," Melani admitted.
Sevyn listened intently. "I was wrong to make you feel that way."
Melani's eyes locked onto his. "And I was wrong to assume the worst."
Sevyn's hand reached for hers, fingers intertwining.
"I promise to listen, be there for you," Sevyn vowed.
Melani's heart swelled, doubts fading.
As they talked, tension dissipated.
Sevyn stood, extending his hand. "Let me make us something to eat."
Melani accepted, following him to the kitchen.
Cooking and sharing a meal, banter returned.
Over dinner, Sevyn asked, "What made you come here tonight?"
Melani shrugged. "Needed closure, I guess."
Sevyn nodded thoughtfully. "I'm glad you did."
After washing dishes, Sevyn led Melani to his room.
He offered his vape, fingers touching.
Conversation flowed easily.
Eyes locked, connection crackling.
Sevyn's hand wrapped around her neck, pulling her close.
Lips met, kiss tender.
Melani's heart soared.
In this moment, she was exactly where she wanted to be, disregarding the regret she felt in her heart.
With Sevyn.
Lips met again and as they kissed, the world outside receded.
