"Tell me, Hizashi."
"Shota... you were there to– I thought you knew after all these years."
"Clearly not."
Aizawa sighed at the pacing man across the room. He was getting more tired of watching this man mutter like his student. Answering the question would be fine but no. He just had to throw more questions at the mummy man."No. This is serious. Shota. You... can't remember that as well?"
"What the hell do you mean as well?"Hizashi sighed as he finally took a seat beside the bed. Holding the steel of the bed railing as he leans in to talk.
"Oboro... he got into an incident earlier in our hero years. You and him went on a mission together. It may be around 7 years ago."
Strangely he cannot recall his friend dying in front of his eyes. But he was aware of the fact that Oboro got into a fetal incident... or that's what he had been told so he remembered? One thing is for sure, he did not witness his death.
"I didn't... go on a mission with him, Hizashi. I went there alone."
"No, Shota. You did."Aizawa rubbed the bridge of his temples to soothe the coming headache. It felt like a blank page. Like it was purposely erased from his memory. There were vague memories of him going to a place with Oboro. It was clearly a mission. Splitting their ways for help and... and what? Why was it so... empty?
He hated it. He hated staying in the dark inside his own memory. He wanted to go back to see for himself again. It's nagging him how the case closed because of his own incompetence. If he were to retrieve that memory then.
Retrieve. Go back in time... relive the past.
"Don't push yourself, Shota. You just woke up from your deep-ass coma. Have some water." Hizashi said handing him a glass of water from the table beside him. Aizawa reached out for the water, sipping it before speaking again."How are the kids?"
"They're doing fine. Midoriya went back to his team for tracking Overhaul in Japan."
"Bakugou?"
"He's recovering but not in a bad shape either."
"You?"
"Funny how you asked me last but yes, I'm alive."Aizawa let out a laugh leaning back into the bed. "So, we go back?" Hizashi walked back over to his seat after retrieving the files from the sofa across the room. "No, not yet. We still need updates for the mission and the rescued kids are being supervised for now." Aizawa turned to Hizashi as he adjusted his posture on the bed so he could clearly look at the files that were handed over to him.
"Eri." He read as he studied the girl's profile on the file. She looks fragile. Completely helpless as she looked at the camera.
"...She was the one I saw with Dabi on our first underground mission."
Hizashi scanned the photo from above as he hummed.
"She was scared when we tried to get her to talk. She still wouldn't ask for anything or do anything at first. For now, she's with Midoriya's team agency with the rest of the kids. I think his partner is in charge of them."
Aizawa nodded as he scanned more of the kids. They are young no doubt. They didn't deserve to be treated this way.
"I see. Then, we might find good news then." Aizawa studied the case file handed from Hizashi to the girl. She's at the moment an orphan. No records on the father and the mother has disappeared for around 4 months now.
"She's especially fond of the boy we tracked, Kota," Hizashi said flipping the page to show more details of the boy they had tracked.
"They are kept safe at the moment but we'll have to bring them back along with the other for temporary shelter until they find further legal guardians."
Hizashi spoke. Aizawa closed the files as he removed the blankets on his body."What's next?"
"We should go meet with the kids downstairs. They're together in room 407. Midoriya might be joining them." Aizawa nodded as he moved to the edge of the bed to move. Hizashi on the other side helping him get up from his seat.
"You know, I saw Y/n coming by to meet Mina." Hizashi quietly stated as he helped the man to get up and caught his attention.
"How was she?" Words came quick and desperate as a hurricane as he whipped his head towards his friend which earned him just a small laugh.
"She's clearly worried about her friend, Shota. I don't think she knows you're here. But she's probably here because she saw the news judging by how panicky she looked."
