Anna had called and texted Mira, and Mira had wanted to answer. She had wanted to talk to Anna. She had wanted to ask her if there was some kind of misunderstanding. If Anna hadn't meant to run off. If Anna had meant to take Mira with her but had somehow forgotten or had somehow had a momentary lapse of judgement.
But she couldn't.
She felt like someone had stepped on her heart, and the possibility that Anna might not have had a lapse of judgement, that she might have really meant to leave her there alone on the platform, that she might have really been trying to avoid a kiss, was too much for Mira.
So she didn't answer.
