Mira watched Anna run down the stairs to the subway platform, then she watched the subway leave.
She couldn't understand how it had gone wrong. She was sure this had been a date. And she was sure that she and Anna had shared a moment on the bench in the park. And she was sure that they had agreed that stardust had brought them together.
But then Anna ran off.
Mira understood that Anna needed to get that last bus, but she would have missed a bus to kiss Anna — especially if it meant she could spend another hour with her!
Mira was glad she hadn't made her feelings more obvious on the park bench.
"I guess it could be worse," Mira said to herself as she walked down to the platform. "At least she seems to want to be friends."
