The only reason Mira answered Anna's text was because she worried she would be a terrible person if she didn't.
She worried that she was coming off as one of those guys who gets all mad when you don't want to date him and just want to be his friend. She didn't want to be one of those guys. She didn't want to be a douche. She didn't want to be the guy in the Union Jack hoodie.
She didn't think Anna would agree to go see an orchestra play Debussy in the park, but she did.
Mira wondered if maybe Anna liked her, but had panicked.
No, Mira thought, if that had been the case her texts would have had a different tone. They would have been more...Mira couldn't put a word to it, but they would have felt different. They would have felt more urgent, more apologetic, less like they were just asking how she was.
Mira resigned herself. This was how it was going to be with Anna: they were going to be friends.
