Jeonghan sat alone at a corner table in the university cafeteria, his tray of untouched food sitting in front of him. The noise of students chatting and laughing around him seemed distant and muted. Lost in his thoughts, he barely noticed the figure approaching until a shadow fell over his table. He looked up, his gaze meeting Seungcheol's warm, friendly eyes.
Seungcheol's smile was as wide as ever, showing off his signature gummy grin. ❝Hey, Jeonghan. Mind if I join you?❞
Jeonghan hesitated for a moment, a hint of surprise flickering across his face. ❝Oh, um, sure. Feel free.❞
Seungcheol took a seat across from Jeonghan, his eyes scanning the table. ❝So, what's got you sitting here all alone? Feeling a bit isolated?❞
Jeonghan shrugged, trying to brush off the question. ❝Not really. Just... needed a break from the crowd, I guess.❞
Seungcheol's brow furrowed, and he leaned forward, his expression turning serious. ❝Am I that unlikeable?❞ he asked, his tone carrying a note of genuine curiosity.
Jeonghan's eyes widened slightly, but before he could respond, Seungcheol's face transformed from concern to anger. ❝Who said that?❞ he demanded, his voice rising. ❝Let me know, and I'll sort them out for you. No one should make you feel that way.❞
Jeonghan was taken aback by the intensity in Seungcheol's voice, but his lips curled into a soft, appreciative smile. ❝It's not really about anyone else,❞ he said gently. ❝But thank you for saying that. It means a lot.❞
Seungcheol's expression softened as he looked at Jeonghan with renewed admiration. ❝You know,❞ he said, his voice warm and sincere, ❝you have such a pretty smile. It's one of the nicest things about you.❞
Jeonghan felt a blush creep up his cheeks, his eyes dropping to the table as he tried to hide his embarrassment. ❝Thank you,❞ he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper.
Seungcheol chuckled softly, clearly pleased by Jeonghan's reaction. ❝I don't know about everyone else, but I can tell you for a fact that I like you. So, you're definitely not unlikeable. It's just that people don't have taste.❞
Jeonghan's head snapped up, his eyes wide with surprise. ❝You-like me?❞
Seungcheol nodded, his gaze unwavering. ❝Absolutely. I've noticed you around, and I've always thought you were really special. Well ever since that clumsy encounter we had in class.❞
The sincerity in Seungcheol's words left Jeonghan momentarily speechless. Seungcheol, noticing Jeonghan's stunned reaction, decided to seize the moment. ❝So with that being said,❞ he began, his voice taking on a playful tone, ❝would you, Mr. Yoon Jeonghan, go out with the guy who sits at the back and doesn't interact with anyone to save his life, for a coffee?❞
Jeonghan blinked, processing the question. ❝Are you asking me out on a date?❞ he asked, his voice laced with both excitement and disbelief.
Seungcheol's grin widened, a glint of mischief in his eyes. ❝Quite possibly,❞ he replied, his tone teasing yet sincere.
Jeonghan's heart raced, and a smile slowly spread across his face as he looked at Seungcheol. ❝So, is that a yes?❞
Jeonghan chuckled, his cheeks still tinged with pink. ❝Yes, it is.❞
Seungcheol's grin turned into a beaming smile of triumph as he reached across the table, taking Jeonghan's hands into his own. The warmth of Seungcheol's touch made Jeonghan's heart flutter.
❝I'm looking forward to it,❞ Seungcheol said, his eyes sparkling with genuine happiness. ❝We'll have to figure out a time that works for both of us.❞
Jeonghan nodded, his own smile reflecting the excitement he felt. ❝I'm looking forward to it too.❞
They sat there, hands clasped together, the noise of the cafeteria faded into the background. They were ready to begin their own chapter, a new story that was just starting to unfold. For now, though, it was a story for another day.
