HER name wasn't really Baby, but her older brother had been calling her that since she was, well, a baby. At eight years old, he even introduced her as 'Baby' to others, and the name stuck. She had never known any different, so she didn't have it in her to mind all that much. And Baby was an extension of Boone even though the two siblings were night and day.
Boone could've invented the term 'rambunctious' while Baby was always very timid. She was mindful of others where he was more reckless. Baby didn't say anything unless it had to be said, but that was okay, because Boone talked enough for the both of them.
And they did share one thing in common — they loved to be behind a camera. While Boone liked filming content for his YouTube channel, Baby enjoyed just taking photographs and developing film in the dark room she got to build in the basement once Boone moved out.
Despite their different personalities, Boone and Baby loved each other something fierce. And even though Boone moved off with Tyler when she was only fifteen and he was starting a career as a YouTuber, he still called her every day just to make sure she was okay. And when it wasn't storm season, he was right back home, there watching her grow up.
She was Baby and he was Boone, the closest siblings that ever were. Maybe there was a bit of an age difference between them, but Boone was always dragging Baby with him no matter where he went.
To football games on Friday nights, to soccer practice on Tuesdays, runs to the store and late night drives around town.
So, as Boone's best friend, Tyler Owens was quite familiar with Baby. She was always there — when they'd play video games at Tyler's or when they'd take his truck out muddin' after a good rain storm or just as they hung out in the basement of Boone and Baby's house.
And no one was prouder than Boone of Baby when she got a full ride to UCLA her senior year of high school even though he was sad to see her move away from home, so far that he didn't get to visit her much at all. He still called her every other day though, just checking in and filling her in on how he and his crew were doing.
Sometimes, admittedly, their calls were just him talking and Baby humming along in agreement or asking prompting questions.
But even Boone noticed how she stopped even humming along during the last few months of her Junior year of college. Her grades slipped, she stopped taking pictures to send home, and when she stopped picking up his calls altogether, he left the Wrangler's without there cameraman for a week so that he could go visit her.
