"Finally!" I cried in delight as we left the immigration counter, "The storm is back, New York!"
"And the city is going to crumble down before we can even think," drama queen laughed behind me.
"Oh you bet, it is," I nodded cheerfully.
"If it doesn't burn down before that," he sighed.
"What do you mean?" I frowned.
"It is already nine in the evening so, Aaron's party is already over and now, my old lady is going to kill me. I bet my cell will ring the second I switch it back on," he rolled his eyes.
"Why did you even switch it off?" I frowned.
"Because she started calling," he said in all seriousness, making me laugh out loud.
"So, now?" I asked as our cab arrived.
"Now," he said opening the door, "We are going to Kingston House to meet everyone and you are going to be my alibi."
He got in and I scoffed getting in after him, "Look at this gentleman."
"What? You are the one who hates when people open doors for you," he raised his hands in defence.
"I am not talking of that, silly man," I shook my head, "You are planning to use me to get away with your fault."
"Okay, let's tell them the truth then," he shrugged.
I narrowed my eyes, "Cheater."
"You can't have it both ways, crazy woman," he told me.
"Fine, I'll be your alibi," I waved him off haughtily and looked out of the window.
"You will never change," he chuckled.
I ignored him and observed the city lights.
New York City really never sleeps.
Every time I am back in the city, the traffic, the expenses and the number of people in this city frustrate me in the daytime, at night the city always makes me fall in love with it all over again.
I was so glad to be finally back.
Even though I have no idea what lies ahead of me and if I will ever be able to fulfil my dream of becoming a neurologist or for how long I will stay in this city or even where I will stay, to begin with, I am happy to be home.
The last time I was back I was here just for Amy and it wasn't even nearly the same feeling as this time.
This time I am back not only for so many people but also, free of any worries and hopeful for making a steady life for myself. I don't know where I will be able to find it but, I am going to create one for myself.
I will get a temporary job for a year, add up money to restart my career and after finishing my post-graduation, buy a house and turn it into a home with my cats.
You can do this, Lia. You have nothing to lose and the entire world to win.
Soon we reached Kingston House and got out of the cab.
"Here, we are!" sighed Drama Queen, "So, how do you wanna do this?"
"Just like last time. I'll hide behind you," I smiled.
He nodded, "If the old lady doesn't stop scolding me after a minute, just pop out."
I laughed and we walked to the main door.
Drama Queen rang the bell as I stood behind him.
Can't wait to see their reactions.
Amy is gonna be ecstatic, I am sure. Aaron and Josh are gonna be so surprised. Mom is-
