TW: suicide, blood, abuse

MADDIE'S POV

It's been 2 weeks. I've been barely on the edge. I hate my life. I wake up every day to go to school. And for what? Everything hurts. I've still been texting Taylor Swift and she's been trying to support me. I'm sitting on the edge of my bed thinking. As my hands shake I pull out my notebook. I write letters. To Sophie. To Easton (my cousin). To Max. And then I pull out my phone. I opened instagram dm's to Taylor Swift.

Me - Thank you so much for everything Taylor. I'm so sorry but I can't do this anymore. Thank you for trying to help me and thank you for writing songs. You kept me happy more than anyone else in my life has. I love you, and goodbye.

I send the text and slip the letters into a shoebox at my desk. I pull out some pills that I've been saving in my desk drawer. I throw handfuls into my mouth and swallow, I grab a knife and put large scratches into my arms and thighs. I fell unconscious.

NO ONE'S POV

Madison's phone slowly starts to vibrate repeatedly.

Taylor Swift - Maddie?

Taylor Swift - Maddie, please, no.

Taylor Swift - Madison. No you did not.

Taylor Swift - Please. Text me Maddie.

Taylor Swift - Please. Tell me you're okay. Tell me you didn't Madison.

Taylor Swift - *8 missed calls*

"Maddie!" Easton says walking into the room. He falls to his knees when he sees her on the ground. He grabs his phone and immediately calls 911. He rolls her over and pulls a blanket off of her bed. He puts pressure on her arms and thighs trying to stop the blood from spilling. Two paramedics come running in with a stretcher. They put Maddie on it and run back out. Easton follows after grabbing her phone. He sees all of the notifications from Taylor and his jaw drops. "What the hell?" He mumbles. Easton ignores the notifications and runs to the ambulance. He climbs in and they drive to the hospital.

"We need you to wait in the waiting room. She's lost too much blood," The nurse says. Easton obeys and paces around the waiting room before sitting down. He pulls out Madison's phone again to open the notifications. He punches in her password, 12-13-89. Taylor Swift's birthday, her inspiration. Who she was somehow getting hundreds of instagram dm's from. Easton opens the dm's and starts to text back.

Madison - This is Easton, her cousin. I found her in her bedroom unconscious bleeding. She was bleeding through her arms and thighs. We're in the hospital right now. They don't know if she'll be okay, she lost a lot of blood and they said that she probably took a lot of pills because of the pill bottles around her.

Taylor Swift - Oh my god. Give me 35 minutes and I'll be there. Keep me updated until I show up.

Easton hearts Taylor's message and plays around on his phone until the nurse comes back out.

"She will be okay. We want a parent or guardian to fill out information about her," The nurse says.

"Her parents passed away. I can try to get a guardian," Easton says looking around his phone contacts.

"I'll fill it out. I am her legal guardian after all." Max says. Easton turns around and swallows.

TAYLOR'S POV

I show up to the hospital and find the waiting room. I see Easton sitting in the waiting room and another man talking with him to the nurse. I walk over to them and ask to see Madison. The nurse agrees and I follow a step behind the nurse.

"Hi Mads, how are you?" I ask gently as I walk into the room. Maddie lights up and she smiles.

"Hi Taylor! I love you so much," The young girl says excitedly. I walk over and hug her tightly. I feel her stiffen and I turn around to see what she's looking at. I turn back to Maddie after seeing the man who was standing with Easton.

"Hi Max," Maddie says stiffly.

"Madison Eloise? What the hell is wrong with you? We're going home in 30 minutes. I had to leave work early to come pick you up from whatever bullshit is going on." Max says walking back out.

"Mads..." I start.

"Sorry about him. He's always like that." Maddie says looking down.

"Mads...he's being emotionally abusive to you. You can't just let him take it," I say, running my fingers through her beautiful brunette hair.

"But if I say something he'll hit me!" Maddie says and then she claps her hand over her mouth. "I-I didn't mean it. I'm fine, I promise."

"Madison. What is going on?" I ask a little more seriously.

"If I do something wrong, or come home late, or forget to make dinner, or don't let him touch me, he'll hit me or not let me eat," Maddie says playing with her rings.

"What do you mean 'don't let him touch me' what's going on?" I ask. Maddie looks away as her eyes water. She pulls her legs into her chest and I rub her back gently. "It's okay. I'll listen. I'll support you. I'll trust you."

"He-he would touch me all the time. Inappropriately. And he wouldn't stop until he wanted to. He never listened and I would tell him to stop and he wouldn't," Maddie says as tears start to fall.

"Oh Mads," I whisper.
