The brunette who was behind the ginger, sensing the evergrowing tensiom between the ginger and her husband,  quickly tried to interfere.

However, she was stopped by Chuuya,  himself who had given her a short glance to tell her everything was under control. The ginger knew this was something he had to handle by himself.

“I apologise for the accident. An issue occurred in my kingdom and my father had invited a few guests. I admit it was my lack of foresight on this matter.”

The other merely sighed,  “How could this happen in the first place? My son shouldn't even have to be labelled aa an intruder. Did you not talk to your father about introducing him?”

“I had assumed that my father had already done the necessary preparations.” The ginger had indeed trusted his father in this matter but it seemed like he too had let it slip his mind about informing the people about Dazai being part of the family.

After all, Chuuya was always with Dazai and the people working around the castle only took a few weeks to catch on.

“So you're telling me my son is an assuming matter?”

The ginger felt his eye twitch as he suppressed it. If this man wasn’t Dazai’s father, he would have lunged towards the other and strangled him to the ground.

How could anyone claim that he didn't care about Dazai? That annoying, overly tall man was his top priority.

“That's not true!” He caught himself nearly yelling that at the other's face.

The brunette behind him looked worriedly as she finally butted in,  “Dear… Please,  it isn't Chuuya's fault. Our son is fine and we should be thanking him for his quick thinking.”

The King merely shook his head, “He's fine for now.” He then turned to face the ginger once again,  “But how many times is he going to stay fine with you by his side. The other time he came back with a cut on his cheek, you had promised us that won't happen again and instead he came back almost losing both his eyes.”

The ginger wanted to refute that but he didn't like the thought of going back on his words and basically lying about that promise never being said.

Before he could have a chance to defend himself, the King continued coldly,  “You know I never showed concern for my son before because I was petty. But now that he's no longer in my castle, under my eyes, it's become clear that I want him protected at all costs.”

The ginger quickly added, “And I will. This accident was mainly out of my control due to not being informed about-”

The ginger was rudely cut off by the other who had continued,  “There is no guarantee that my son will be protected at your kingdom, under your care. I only have one son and I'm not taking any chances.”

Chuuya had no opportunity to say anymore as the King brushed past him,  about to walk away.

The ginger turned to see the brunette trying to appeal to her husband to forgive him but the ginger knew it was hopeless. He had lost that second chance given to him.

However,  it seemed that not all hope was lost.

“Your majesty, please give him another chance.”

The king seemed to be shocked that a mere guard was speaking to him as he didn't bother to turn as he replied,  “And why should I? Don't defend without a proper argument.”

“This entire incident was unexpected and the fault cannot be directed at his highness.”

“And why do you have a say on this? You merely played a part by bringing my son here.”

The other gulped as he admitted,  “I was the reason why Dazai-sama had a cut on his cheek a few months back. I take full responsibility for that. His highness meely took the blame.”

The king's shoulders seemed to tense when he heard that as he finally turned to face the other.

“You…” The King mumbled as his wife rushed to his side to calm him down.

Takeshi merely stood his ground,  so bravely, shocking himself.  He was known to be the shyest of the batch.  He had joined the guards of his kingdom due to admiration on how they protected the royal family. When he finally got the job after gruelling training, he was happily jumping until he had made that amature  mistake of knocking over that basket.

“I will accept any punishment you give me but it won't change my stand on this matter.  From my personal experience,  Dazai-sama is everything to his highness.  I do not believe that he lacks the ability to protect him.”

The brunette seemed to have tears welling up in her eyes,  being the more sentimental one while the King still kept a stone cold face.

“Please.” Takeshi bowed, using pure muscle memory by blowing that perfect ninety degree angle as he continued,  “I hope you change your mind on this matter.”

Everything went silent for a mere few seconds that felt like eternity.

“What's your name?”

“Sorry?”

“Your name…”

The other’s mind lagged for a second before he hesitantly replied.

“Takeshi Rui, your majesty.” he slowly got up from his terrifying perfect ninety degree bow.

The King nodded,  turning over to Chuuya who seemed to be still surprised at how the guard he had hated since the accident had stood up for him.

“Nakahara, you better put this guard as my son's personal bodyguard and I may forgive you.”

The ginger snapped out of it as he quickly nodded,  “Of course. It'll be implemented immediately.”

The King's eyes seem to soften slightly before hardening again as if warning him as he continued,  “Put that shadow of yours into good use.”

Takeshi seemed confused at that but the ginger only nodded,  slightly humiliated at the calling out of his shadow.
