Under the full moon's silver light, the beach was silent except for the gentle sound of the waves. The sand beneath them felt soft, as if nature itself was urging Zahra to give in, to allow herself a chance at love.
Victor, standing before her with nervous eyes and hands holding a delicate diamond ring, spoke softly, "After you came into my life, everything changed. I feel more alive now. So, Ms. Zahra Zain, would you be my girlfriend and share the rest of your life with me?"
Zahra's heart raced as tears welled up in her eyes. She had always guarded herself against love, fearful of the heartbreak that could follow. Yet, in this moment, she felt something stir deep within her.
She looked at Victor, her gaze searching, perhaps rethinking everything she thought she knew. She opened her mouth, her voice trembling, "Ye...yes. I will be... I love yo-"
But before she could finish, Victor pulled her into a tight embrace. Zahra's hesitation melted away as she hugged him back with equal warmth. He broke the embrace only to bring their lips together in a kiss that was tender and full of emotion. The kiss lingered, carrying unspoken promises, before they gently pulled away, resting their foreheads against each other.
Tears escaped from Zahra's eyes, and she sniffled softly, overwhelmed by the emotions she had never let herself feel before.
Victor, still holding the ring, asked gently, "May I?"
Without hesitation, Zahra nodded, and he carefully slid the ring onto her finger. It sparkled beautifully against her long, delicate fingers.
The night continued with them nestled in each other's arms, watching the stars above as they sat on the sand, feeling the world around them quiet and still, as if it were holding its breath for them.
*BOOM, BOOM* the sound of gunshot echoed inside the room. The work was done, and silence fell over the room, thick with tension.
"Hm, get rid of the body. Do whatever you want with it," a deep, commanding voice echoed, laced with cold indifference. The man paused before raising his voice, his tone cutting through the air like a blade. "I dare anyone to cross me again. I swear, I'll drag them through hell. Understood, boys?!"
Fear rippled through the group as his words hung in the air, leaving a chill that settled in their bones.
A convoy of five black cars with a slick matte black one in the middle approached the entrance, their presence alone sending a ripple of unease through the guards stationed at the massive estate. The place was drenched in light, every corner illuminated as if darkness itself was banished from this realm. The mansion loomed ahead, a fortress guarded by a hundred men, each one alert, missing nothing. Not even a fly could escape their gaze.
The central car, distinguished by its understated elegance, came to a halt. The door was opened with precision, and out stepped a polished black shoe, followed by the rest of him a long, powerful leg clothed in tailored black pants, and then the imposing figure of a man in a pristine black blazer, unmarked by a single crease.
He moved with an effortless grace, his tall frame exuding authority. On his wrist gleamed an expensive Rolex, encrusted with diamonds that caught the light, adding a cold sparkle to the darkness around him. With a slight gesture of his hand, he signaled his bodyguards to follow him inside, their presence a mere shadow to his own.
He strode forward, the aura of power and menace trailing behind him, leaving no doubt that this was a man not to be crossed.
*KNOCK, KNOCK* "Victor, it's me, Zahra! We need to go, right?" She knocked again, her voice tinged with impatience. Five minutes had passed, and still, there was no sign of him waking up. His phone was dead, and maybe he is too, she thought with a curse under her breath.
