When we reached my apartment, I gave Lexie a quick tour. She looked around, her eyes wide with amazement as she took in the space.

"Wow. Aren't you lonely living here all by yourself?" Lexie asked, her gaze lingering on the cozy corners and the few personal touches I'd added.

I shrugged as I started preparing dinner. "Well, I guess it's just something I have to deal with," I replied, trying to keep my tone light as I focused on chopping vegetables for the noodles.

Lexie walked over to me, a mischievous smile playing on her lips. "I guess you won't have to deal with it anymore," she said, her voice soft but sure. "I'll always come over, so you'll feel happy. And if you're sad, I'll be sad with you!" She added with a playful pout, clinging to my arm as I continued cooking.

I couldn't help but smile, my heart swelling at her words. What a twist of events. It felt so surreal to have her here, saying things like this, making promises that sounded like dreams coming true.

"Make yourself at home," I said, trying to keep the grin off my face. "Let me just finish cooking first."

Lexie giggled and gave my arm a gentle squeeze before moving over to the living room. "Okay, but don't take too long," she teased. "I'm starving... and curious about every little thing in here."

I watched her with a soft chuckle as she began to explore, feeling a warmth inside me that I hadn't felt in a long time.

As soon as I finished cooking, we sat down at my small dining table and ate together. The noodles were simple, but there was something comforting about sharing a meal with Lexie, her laughter filling the space like music.

After we finished eating, I stood up to clear the dishes and put them in the sink. That's when Lexie suddenly spoke up.

"I'm still hungry," she said, her voice a bit more playful than before.

I turned back to her, amused. "What else do you want? We can buy something at the nearby market," I offered.

Lexie's eyes sparkled mischievously as she leaned back in her chair. "You," she whispered.

I froze, the plate in my hand almost slipping from my grasp. My heart pounded in my chest as I turned around to face her, surprised to see that she was already right in front of me, her face just inches away. I could feel her breath against my skin, warm and soft, as she continued to move closer, her expression intent and daring.

For a moment, I couldn't breathe. Then, before I could say anything, her lips brushed against mine, softly at first, as if asking a question. My heart stuttered, and then, with a rush of emotion I couldn't hold back, I closed the distance between us.

Our lips touched fully, and everything else seemed to fade away—the kitchen, the apartment, the entire world. It was just us, in that moment, and nothing had ever felt so right.

Lexie's lips were warm and soft against mine, a perfect blend of hesitation and certainty. The kiss started slow, almost like a whisper, but quickly grew deeper, more urgent, as if we were both searching for something in each other—something that had been missing for far too long.

Her hands found their way to my waist, pulling me closer, and I melted into her touch, my fingers threading through her hair. I could feel the steady beat of her heart against my chest, echoing the rhythm of my own. The world around us blurred; all I could focus on was the way she felt, the way she tasted, the way she seemed to fill every empty space inside me.

After a long, breathless moment, we finally pulled apart, our foreheads resting against each other. I opened my eyes and found her staring at me with a mixture of surprise and something else—something that looked a lot like wonder.
