I swear the plot will eventually come, and I'm so sorry for the long build up. I want them to all know each other before they're assigned the group project. So sorry.
(Also, I've had more schoolwork lately and am starting to right a Legends of Tomorrow fanfiction- about their kids from the future going back to stop them from being killed, it'd be nice to know if anyone would be interested in reading it if I were to post it -so that's why this update is so much later than before, and they'll probably continue to be unreliable)

The clock ticked down second by second, the end of the school day nearing. Every student in my biology class was getting restless, the sound of feet tapping and pens clicking filling the otherwise silent room.

BRRIINNGG. It was like a stampede out the door, with me waiting a couple seconds before carefully following the horde, not wanting to get trampled by kids wanting to get out of school as quickly as possible. I took my daily route through the halls to the front of the building, and then outside. I sat down on the stone bench beside the flagpole, watching kids pass by and waiting for Tam. His last class of the day was gym, and it took forever for him to get out of there.

A blonde girl came to sit on a different bench a few feet away, an empty one on the other side of the pole. She was tapping her fingers on her knees anxiously, and I couldn't help but look over at her in curiosity. She was the new girl that had started here today.

Unfortunately, she noticed me and gazed back. Immediately, shame overtook me- she probably thinks I'm being so creepy or weird.

She, strangely enough, started to talk to me. "Hi. Are you waiting for someone too? You're in my English class, aren't you?"

I felt a blush of embarrassment brush across my cheeks, despite my better wishes. I wish I wasn't so shy around people, it's an awful curse. "I think so. Sixth period with Mr. Quinlin?"

"Mhm. Linh, right? I'm Sophie." She put her right hand out in my direction, offering me a handshake kind of nervously.

My own hand extended out to meet it, gently moving our hands in a quick and fluid up-down motion. "But, yeah, I'm waiting for my brother Tam to get out of his class. What about you?"

"I'm waiting for my friend to get here so we can go study at her house. I'm sure she wouldn't mind if you two wanted to come with as well. She's been trying to make more friends lately, apparently. I can ask her if you'd like." In all my years of my only friend being my brother, I thought I'd never see the day of someone inviting me somewhere to do something. This might be a once in a lifetime experience, so I obviously have to take it. But, I doubt Tam would want to come with.

"I would love to come, but I don't think my brother would want to. I'll ask him, but are you sure your friend wouldn't mind?" Maybe this girl, Sophie, is just trying to be nice. Maybe her friend wouldn't want me to come, even if she is being sincere.

"Oh, yeah, she'll probably be really excited. Like I said, she's actually been wanting to make new friends. Maybe you know her, Biana Vacker?" Oh. My. God. This girl is friends with Biana Vacker! She does not seem like the type Biana would be friends with.

"No way. Biana Vacker? I thought she was only friends with rich snobby girls- and, no offense, you don't really seem the type."

"She's actually been trying to make a new reputation, apparently. I literally just met her today, so I don't know how she was before, but she seems really nice?"

"Wow." I never would've thought a Vacker would be a good, honest person. Someone to break away from the family's title and signature look for once.

"Hey, Linh, who's this?" Tam appeared behind me- I swear it's as if he can control shadows to conceal him until he wants to be noticed -and asked. His voice seemed slightly sharper than usual, looking at Sophie kind of harshly- god, I wish he wasn't so overprotective.

Turning to face him, my mouth still slightly opened in shock from the Biana revelation, I realized I should ask him about going to the Vackers' house.

"Sophie, a girl from my English class. She asked me
if we wanted to go to her friend's house to study with them. Can we go? Please!" As expected, Tam's face contorted in uncertainty.

"I don't know. You can go, but I might just go home to study for Pre-Calc on my own."

I leaned over to whisper in his ear, quiet enough so Sophie couldn't hear. "Her friend is Biana Vacker, the girl you have a major crush on. You can try and befriend her and eventually ask her out on a daaaate~"

His face flushed redder than l've ever seen before, and gave me great pride at knowing I'm the one who accomplished that feat. "O-okay. I'll come with. I need some help in Physics anyway."

"Great! We just have to wait for Biana now." Right after Sophie said that, Biana walked up- as if on cue.

She waved in greeting to her blonde friend, before noticing the presence of Tam and I. "Who are these two? Actually, aren't you from my Algebra class? Linh, I think?" She pointed at me, shocking me by actually knowing the name of a random girl like myself.

"Uhhhh, yes. And this is my twin brother, Tam. He's a Junior here."

"Cool. Do you guys want to come to my house to study together? I already invited Sophie, and literally none of my other friends even study." Biana sounded so innocent asking this question, unaware of the conversation that had taken place before she had arrived.

Sophie and I laughed- although the situation not even really being funny -at this simple sentence. It left a very confused Tam and Biana, neither knowing the joke. "Am I missing something? I feel like I'm missing something. What happened before I showed up here, anything important?" My brother gave a curt nod, wordlessly seconding Biana's words of confusion.

Sophie explained our reaction, as I was still quietly giggling about it, saying, "Earlier ago, I offered the same thing, thinking- and desperately hoping -you wouldn't mind. Linh asked if you would for sure be okay with it, to which I responded by saying you would actually be really excited."

Biana returned a giggle of her own, and my stone cold brother actually cracked a smile of his own at her laugh. He must really have it bad for this girl. I still can't believe he likes a Vacker of all people.
