Forgotten - Eli

Eli's POV:
I was staring at her again, just desperately wanting her to even know I exist when Miguel gave me a tap which got my attention, "dude, stop it, unless you are going to go and talk to her then stop torturing yourself," I sighed, I knew he was right. Just then she came over to us, like walking right at us, I quickly opened my locker and pretended to look for something, "Thanks for the notes Metri, they were super helpful!" I watched her through the small lines in the locker, she gave the notes back to Demetri and then turned to Miguel, "Hey, by the way, if you need help advertising your Dojo, I can put an ad into next month's school paper." She's so considering, Miguel nodded, "that would be great Y/n, I'll get to work on an advert!" She walked past me and down the hallway, I sighed and closed my locker. "Why doesn't she notice me?" Demetri then responded, "Maybe because you were hiding in your locker," once again my friends were right.

We were all sat at lunch when I notice that Y/n was sat by herself and not eating, "should we go over there?" I asked. "Why don't you go by yourself?" Miguel asked, "she barely knows who I am, she talks to you guys," I reply, we all stood and went over to her, the boys on either side of her and me opposite her, "Hey guys," she smiled beautifully as always. "Hey, we saw you were sitting alone and we thought you could do with the company," Miguel said shyly. She lit up, "You three are so sweet!" She glanced at all of us, lingering on me, probably with confusion as to who I am, but none the less she was looking at me and I was loving every moment. I then realised that she wasn't using her genuine smile, but more her acting smile. "Are you okay?" I asked quietly. "Yeah... I'm fine!" She spoke using her fake happy tone. I gave her a look and her fake smile melted away to reveal her genuine sad expression, "Okay, you caught me Eli," She knows my name!? "Mitch broke up with me," Miguel pulled her into a hug while Demetri asked, "Why, you guys looked so-" "Happy? Yeah, I thought we were, until he started to cheat on me with a girl from another school," I coughed on my drink hearing that. "Why would he cheat on you?" I asked my shyness melting into anger. Y/n bit her lip and wiped away a few tears before she spoke, "...He said that I wasn't as pretty as her." All three of us looked at her in shock, before we could say anything a wicked laugh came from behind us, Mitch, "Hey you, missing me?" She turned around and stood up, "I hope that you are happy with her, I hope that she is everything you want, I hope that you see a bright and glorious future with her," Mitch looked taken aback by this until she finished, "Then I hope she cheats," she then slapped him right across the face. Mitch ran off with her breathing heavily, I stood up and slowly walked over to her, I went to put my hand on her shoulder but before we made contact she ran away sobbing. "Poor Y/n," I turn and sit back down. "Hey Eli, she's now single though," Demetri pointed out. "I can't take advantage of her while she's upset," I say, "I just want her to feel better." Miguel then got an idea, "then do that!" "What?" "Comfort her," Miguel was right. "How am I meant to do that, she barely knows me," I complain. "Well, perfect way to introduce yourself," Demetri replied.

After school I plucked up the courage to go over to her house which was only down the street from mine. I ran the door bell and her mother answered it, "You're not friends with Mitch are you?" She asked, looking at me with suspicion. "No, I'm Eli, I just wanted to check in on Y/n," her face softened and led me to Y/n's room and knocked on her door. "Y/n Darling, Eli is here to see you." There were a couple of shuffles heard from the room and then a quiet, "Come in," could be heard. Her mother opened the door and then left, I walked in and she was in a big fluffy hoodie and sat on her floor with Tissues and ripped pieces of photos of her and Mitch. She was watching a funny video on YouTube but she wasn't laughing. I shut the door behind me and quietly sat down next to her. There was a couple of minutes of silence, until I spoke, "Is there something I can do to make you feel better?" She paused the video and just laid back on her floor, I followed suit. "Did I make a mistake dating him?" She asked. "Well, if you had feelings for him then no," She glanced at me then slowly took my hand. "I think I was dating him to ignore my true feelings, I did grow to love Mitch but..." I looked at our linked hands then back into her eyes, "The truth is, I liked someone that i thought I could never be with, and if I am being even more honest with myself, I still like him." She pulled me into a hug and cried on my shoulder, and I'd let her for as long as she needed.
