Top Six - Eli S6

"Where do you want it to be Eli," I asked. "I don't mind, as long as you are going there with me," I kissed his cheek. He then pressed play on the video... Spain! I gasped "I have always wanted to go to Spain," the announcer then said that only six of us would be going. "What?" Eli and I said at the same time. My heart dropped, I mean I am good at Karate but we already have 5 legends at it which means I'm going to have to compete against Demetri. While everyone was scrambling about it I managed to sneak away and to my car. I stared at the photo on my car keys, which was Demetri, Eli and I all playing together as kids. What am I supposed to do?

When walking through the hallways, I may or may not have just avoided everyone in the Dojo. It was going well until, "Hey Y/n," I turned and saw Sam and Tory, it was still a little weird seeing them so happy together, it was a good weird but still weird none the less. "Hey," I reply not as happily. "Are you worried about not being picked?" Tory asked and I shook my head. "It's more complicated than that, if I get that sixth spot then Demetri won't be going with us, but if I don't and Demetri does I'm the one not going, it all just sucks." I slammed my locker shut in frustration. "Yeah I know, so is that way you've been avoiding us?" I nodded looking down, the girls then hugged me, I was shocked but hugged back.

The first day of selection was probably the most chaotic but I did pretty well in all of the challenges. "Alright when I call out your name step up on the deck, Hawk," I clapped for him and he kissed my cheek then went up there. I told Eli why I wasn't talking to him last night and he reassured me that I should do my best, "Y/n," I looked up shocked, I guess it did pay off, I walked next to Eli and he held my hand. Sensei Barnes continued to name ten others including Demetri. I desperately wished that it was twelve inside of six, but I guess it can't be helped. We all walked out of the dojo and Eli, Demetri and I decided to train in the park. "Hey Y/n, heard anything back from Stanford yet?" Demetri asked, "not yet, whenever I get an email I have a mini Heart attack, but it just turns out to be junk mail," I reply chuckling, "How about you, anything from MIT?" I asked and he shook his head. Eli was in the zone but I could tell a small hint of guilt behind his eyes.

The next day was the next phase of selections and I was doing well and even managed to get a couple of flags off of Sam and Tory. Once it was over Sam, Miguel, Robby and Tory were in the top four and there were five of us left standing, we were told that we were going to get judged on our  performance and we'll know tomorrow who the other two are. I left the Dojo still unsure about this whole thing, I was certain that Eli would get in but now it's a free for all. "Hey, Y/n!" Eli called, he ran up to me and hugged me from behind. I smiled a little, "Hey Bub," we walked to my car, "are you worried?" I asked and he nodded slightly. "Yeah, I really hope we get the spots," I had started driving when he made this comment. "What about Demetri?" I asked and Eli looked away from me, I grabbed his hand and gave it a kiss, "what's going on in that head of yours," I asked stroking his hand with my thumb as I drove. "Remember that frat party we went to?" I nodded. "Well, it made me realise that I never actually looked at any other schools, so I... I didn't apply to MIT," we were at my house that this point and I took a moment to processed what he said. I parked the car and gave him a hug, "It's okay to not know where you want to go, if I am being honest, I keep having doubts about if I am good enough for the course I want to do, or the collage itself for that matter," he hugged me tighter. "Thank you for understanding, I know Demetri won't take it well," we went into my house and to my room, to avoid my parents. "Let's just try and relax," I say and he tackled me onto my bed and began cuddling me, I chuckled, "you know you could've just asked," I comment. "I know but this is more fun."
