Things started to move when Kai and Sakura returned to Hirata and the others, who hadn't achieved any results. When they did return, however, they had lost sight of Koenji, whose final words were something along the lines of beauty.

Yet, that didn't matter, as they weren't the only ones that returned.

The Idiot Trio, who also happen to return at the same time as the rest of the groups, seemed to be in surprisingly high spirits, and were speaking rather enthusiastically to Hirata about something.

After getting a bit closer, Kai managed to listen to what they found, and to his surprise, it was definitely good.

Ike: A river, a river! What an incredible feeling! And there was some kind of mechanism installed around there! It could be a gadget to get right of possession, or whatever! It's only a ten-minute walk from here, so let's hurry!

It seemed like Ike and his group had made some headway, and wanted to stand guard so another class wouldn't snatch the spot.

Of course, while it did make sense about that, some classes like Class A, had apretar managed to get some spots, as Kai had seen.

And some, even shared the three idiots enthusiasm.

Hirata: This is huge. If we can secure the river, our situation might take a turn for the better.

It seemed they'd decided on the base camp's location. Of course, it would depend on the terrain and environment, but this likely was going to be our their step forward.

However, there was a small problem. Two teams had yet to return to the area where they were told to regroup.

It was a little before three o'clock. If they hadn't returned by the appointed time, there was a good chance they were lost in the forest.

Hearing that, Kai started to approach Hirata, to tell him the bad news of Koenji.

Kai: Sorry Hirata. Koenji sort of...Left us in the dust, as he disappeared into the woods.

When he said that, Kai expected Hirata to have a small reaction. However, said student only smiled at Kai, almost as if he already knew.

Hirata: Ah, Kouenji-kun actually came back a little while ago. He left to go swimming.

At the remark, Kai nodded.

So he hadn't gotten lost, but had instead slipped away. He should have expected it. Koenji is indeed a free sprite, through and through.

However, someone else heard that, and approach Kai with a small scowl on her face.

Horikita: *Sigh* Split up? Didn't you take the lead?

As Horikita started to talk to Kai, everyone began moving toward the river.

At her remark, Kai watch her with a deadpan expression, almost as if she has asked something stupid.

Kai: Take lead? I don't think Koenji cares about someone taking lead.

There was nothing Kai could do to force Koenji to stay. He had a feeling that any attempts of his, would just be a waste of effort on his part, because he needed to converse his energy, in order to continue with the exam.

That, and look after Sakura as well. However, he was somewhat curious about the man in question as well.

Had he been trying to start trouble? Kouenji had run off at a quick pace, suggesting that he was already familiar with the forest.

Hearing him, Horikita only nodded, seeing his point of view.

Horikita: I see. You can't really complain about his abilities, though the same can't be said of his personality.
