HELLSCAPE

CHAPTER 1

Some years later, a few miles north of the Hellscape headquarters, a train pulls up to the station, the young lady who leaves the train is greeted by a man with an authoritative stature. She addresses him as "Sir" and follows his lead as they make their way to their transport to the headquarters.

"My name is 06, I am one of the 9 senior members at the London HQ..." he starts explaining, wasting no time,

"...and you are?" he asked, as if he already knew but was asking to be polite,

"My name is [redacted]!" the young lady exclaimed.

"You will now go by the name Agent I" he responded

"Agents of Hellscape, officially known as Devils, are referred to by the first letters of their names. This is because attachment to your fellow agents in this line of work isn't a luxury that comes without consequences. If you don't address your fellow Devils by their names then you avoid becoming attached to them" he went on.

After some time, they both arrived at their destination and got out. Towering over Agent I was an almost modernised castle-like building; this was the London Institute of Hellscape and the central hub for Devils across the globe.

"So where do we begin?" she asked 06 with excitement,

"That would be your oath," he said back as he started to make his way towards the main entrance, Agent I ran up behind to catch up with what distance he had already made.

Agent I and 06 made their way to an office located at the top of the tallest tower at the back of the institute.

"This is where I leave you, go on ahead through those doors" he explained to a nervous Agent I, she gave him a nod of confirmation and made her way through the towering doors.

"Agent I, I assume?" asked a soft and calm female voice,

"Yes ma'am!" Agent I responded almost instinctively as she stood up straight.

The lady chuckled, she followed up by introducing herself

"You can call me 02"

"Yes 02 ma'am!" Agent I said without a moment of hesitation,

02 gave out a faint laugh. Agent I had read about the Top 9 in the briefing material before she had enrolled; although 02 was the second highest ranked agent at Hellscape, second only to "The Founder" himself. She seemed to have a sense of humour and was very nonchalant about her position of authority.

"Repeat after me..." she explained to Agent I as she engraved a sigil onto her palm

"I, [redacted], swear my allegiance to Hellscape and their goals to protect the natural world from the unnatural and will do everything in my power to do what is best for the greater good" she went on

"I, [redacted], swear my allegiance to Hellscape and their goals to protect the natural world from the unnatural and will do everything in my power to do what is best for the greater good" Agent I recited back.

"Welcome to the family, you can now explore the institute as you wish" 02 said, dismissing Agent I.

Outside of 02's office, Agent I saw 06 waiting for her return

"How was it?" he asked

"She's uhm... intimidating" she responded, with a nervous laugh

"You'll get used to it, there are a lot of interesting characters here" he explained with a smile.
