CHAPTER 5

06 and Agent I looked up at the sky as they saw the queen, now three times her original size, charged up an attack. After a few seconds of charging she spat out an acid-like substance at one of her prison walls and the substance dissolved the spell, breaking it and climbing out from its prison.

06 and Agent I were now face to face with an unprecedented unnatural, the first of which was developing the ability to evolve from an Orange threat level to gain the ability to break spells and kill Devils. As the queen spat her venom, 06 would throw up a shield to slow its trajectory with no avail, the venom dissolved through the spell like acid on a paper. Agent I and 06 dodged and weaved around the queen's attacks as she stayed hovering in the air spitting out her venom.

For hours all they could do was try to slow down the queen and evade her attacks,

"Send help!" 06 yelled to 04 over the comms

"We don't have any available Devils that can stop a Grey Threat Level" 04 snapped back at him

"We have one that's always at the institute!" 06 snapped while trying to dodge the queen's attacks as well as keep Agent I safe,

"He's not going to agree to help!" 04 responded,

"Why wouldn't he? There are lives at risk!" 06 asked,

"Because he barely cares about his own life, let alone the lives of others?" 04 snapped back

"Well, figure something out!" 06 responded with panic as he continued to dodge the queen's onslaught and keep her focus on him to avoid her attention being caught by Agent I.

"I HAVE AN IDEA!" Agent I yelled across the battlefield to 06

"What is it?!"

"What's your ultimate?" she asked him

"My what?..."

"Your ultimate, your last resort ability, what's your strongest ability?" she explained to him

"OH! Copias Iungere; I can stack multiple abilities together and cast them as one ability!" he responded,

An idea formed in Agent's mind; she explained to 06 that if they both cast their ultimate abilities together and aimed the attack at her, it might take her down. Although he had never seen Devils stack their "ultimates", he was willing to try. It was either that or this unnatural would kill them both.

Agent I cut her palm with her katana and allowed the blood to pour onto her blade while casting "Transfusio: Sanguineo", as she finished, the blade grew in size and it was so sharp that you could hear the razor edge of it cutting through the molecules in the air.

06 cast his ultimate "Copias Iungere" and combined as many offensive spells as he could gather the strength to cast into one along with the shield spell to contain the fallout of the combined abilities to only damage its target. He cast the ability onto the katana and Agent I prepared to cut the queen down with their combined power. As Agent I jumped up to slash the queen down, the queen darted forward and slashed the agent's upper shoulder, Agent I took the opportunity that her proximity to the target presented and she swung her katana. It gave out a CRACK as it cut the target and a BOOM as 06's combined abilities took effect upon its target. Agent I was thrown back by the blast, 06 tried to catch her with a shield but the spell failed because of how unstable his soul had become after stacking so many abilities.

As the dust settled around them, both Devils looked up in hopes that their plan had worked but they were faced with a reality contrary to their hopes. There in the sky, barely holding herself together, they saw the queen clutching the wound where her amputated arm was once connected. Though she sustained significant damage, she was still in the fight. However, both agents had expended all their strength in stacking their ultimate abilities together, they fell to their knees spitting up blood beside one another.

As both agents sat defeated on the battlefield that was now nothing but dissolved matter from the acid and scorch marks from the double ultimate, the queen charged up one final attack. This would be her first time killing a Devil, and she was getting to take out two of them at that. She began to cackle with excitement and her venom glands began to grow, charging up the heinous acidic substance that decayed and dissolved all that it touched.

"Thank you for everything you taught me" Agent I said to 06,

Neither of them had the energy to even move after their ultimates and they did not have enough time to regain their strength to run, given their impending demise.

They both closed their eyes as the queen spat her venom towards them.

They both prepared to be dissolved away.

They both prepared for their deaths.

With a THOOM, a blue light permeated their eyelids. As they opened their eyes, they saw a wall of flames in front of them, as the venom came in contact with the wall it evaporated almost instantly.

"Are you trying to get the rookie killed?"

A monotonous voice spoke from behind them both. As Agent I looked behind them, she saw a tall man, dressed all in black, a long coat and a black shirt that wasn't fully done up with a loose tie hanging around his neck under the collar. He had an expressionless face, almost as if he was bored, with a cut scar over his left eye, where seemingly someone tried to stab him in the eyes. As she looked towards 06 wondering who this man was, 06 just smiled, as much as he could through the pain, he just smiled...
