Aurora loved animals. Her interest in cute creatures was passed on to her by her mother. In their hometown they had two dogs, four owls, a rabbit, a snake and three cats, one of which the red-haired girl took to school. When she was a child, her mother always took her to the zoo. Even though both of her parents were purebloods, they loved Muggles and always talked with fascination about them and what they did on a daily basis. Aurora was also interested in normal people, but her first love was animals. She thought they were too sweet and innocent to exist in the world, and wanted to protect them all. She wanted to have every creature in the distant future. She knew it was unlikely, but dreams were never punished and the girl was a big dreamer.

She also dreamed of passing Transfiguration. Carmen was not a perfect student, but she was very good at Herbology and Potions, which made her a favorite of Horace Slughorn and Herbert Beery. Other teachers just thought she was average. Sure she wasn't bad, but she wasn't credited with any extraordinary abilities. She didn't suffer for this, she absolutely hated Transfiguration. She had nothing against Dumbledore, he taught very well, but this subject just wasn't for her.

This year they had Transfiguration with Gryffindors. She stood outside the classroom with Sylvanna, Ophelia, and Henry, waiting for the professor. Dumbledore was rarely late, so Aurora was surprised.

"He's looking at you," Henry told the girl, and she frowned.

"Who?" The boy nodded to her at the blonde Gryffindor who was leaning against the wall, his eyes focused on Aurora.

"Let him watch, that's all he can do," She replied confidently, trying not to worry about being watched.

"He's definitely having a hard time coming to terms with the breakup," Sylvanna said, indiscreetly glancing at Aurora's ex-boyfriend.
