Rumor Has It

Korra stirred in her sleep, her consciousness taking its sweet time returning to the grooves of her brain. While she gathered her thoughts that had yet to be processed, she got a better feel of her surroundings. It was warmer than she'd like it to be and it was almost completely quiet besides the TV playing at a decent volume.

She took in her first breath of the day and a strong, sweet scent hit her nasal. She didn't think anything of it until her second breath was constricted by a heavy force. Freezing, Korra barely made a move as she peered down groggily at the extra weight on top of her. An ocean of ravens only met her gaze and a porcelain, slender hand lay on top of her tight chest.

Her brain clicked on almost immediately, and far too swiftly for her liking. She panicked. Apparently her body reacted too soon in a state of shock as she not-so-gently nudged Asami off of her and attempted to remove herself from the potential heart attack she was about to endure. In the midst of her panic her foot got tangled in the vines of sheets and blankets, sending her flying backwards into the floor.

Thank God for carpet.

Her head throbbed in the back of her skull as she softly groaned and threw her hands over her face to hide away from the high sunlight sinking into the room.

"Are you okay?"

Damnit, I hadn't actually meant to wake her up. Korra opened her eyes and glanced up at the face staring back down at her. Confused and obviously scared, Asami scrunched her nose and sent a quizzical expression down at her bestfriend.

Lie. Now. "Y-yeah, just a spider..."

Asami's bloodshot eyes grew wide and Korra quickly back tracked.

"B-but I killed it!" She said with urgency. She'd already woken up the CEO from her slumber. She didn't want any more panic to stir than it already had. "Sorry I had to wake you in the process."

The heiress smiled. Oh God, help me. Then she peered farther down over the bed, gripping Korra's ankles for a stable balance. Instead of continuing their previous topic and Korra's abrupt scare, her smile only grew softer as she said, "Come get breakfast with me."

Korra blinked. Oh.

That was definitely not the watered down reaction Korra had expected. She honestly didn't know what she thought Asami would say, but she was relieved it wasn't anything but the reaction she had given. Come to think of it, she was hungry now that her body had fully woken up. Her overwhelming scare had completely made her body forget everything in her stressed induced state. She let out a breath she hadn't realized she was gripping on to so tightly as Asami slipped from over her and out of sight.

"You've gotta move if you want something to eat." Asami giggled from across the room. "Food's not gonna come by itself."

Right.

Korra moved her feet as quickly as they let her as she called dibs on the bathroom. Asami only laughed, all but objecting. As her shower ran hot, Korra cursed herself for acting so foolish. She couldn't remember how exactly long she'd spent lying on the floor, but she was pretty sure it was over the three minute mark. She couldn't blame herself, though. Asami had her absolutely smitten and wrapped around her fingers like slick putty. Not being used to sleeping next to someone had that effect on her. Now, Korra was sharing a bed with someone other than Naga and unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately), that 'someone' was her crush.

A long-lasting and antagonizing crush.

Asami rummaged quietly through her bag, attempting not to wake anyone this early. After a few minutes of looking and decision making, she finally settled on a simple red shirt with white strips at the collar and sleeves, with a pair of black jeans and white sneakers. Now I just have to wait for her to come out. She thought impatiently, still standing awkwardly in her pajamas. She was surprised nobody else was awake but her and Korra despite her best friend's fall. Coincidence maybe or just pure luck that she and Korra were going to get some well deserved quality time together.
