You had dreamt of the past again, a past you'd never get back, but you had read the story again, specifically the past of Ashley and Jace.

“You're fired!” The manager had kicked Hyunwoo out, the snickers from the group could be heard, and what was so chilling about this was Ashley and Jace's piercing eyes, they weren't satisfied with just getting him terminated from a job, even if he had gotten that order right, even if it was clear that the store manager was a mixed blood, they had fired him and further protected danger.

He had walked down as it was pouring outside, for someone reason it felt comforting to him, the rain, because if it was quiet and dry, he would only have his depressing thoughts to deal with, he'd have to deal with the thought that he truly couldn't fit in with humans no matter how hard he tried, that his father was right, but he just walked home in silence, despite his defeat.

_____

"Argh..." I groaned as I woke up feeling groggy. Glancing at the clock, I realized it was time to get up.

Oddly, Polli and I don't always wake up at the same time or share the same level of alertness. It seems one of us can sleep while the other is awake. This time, I was pretty sure Polli was awake too, as I could hear her soft groans.

As I finished getting ready and brushed my hair, I noticed another note lying on the counter. "Mmm...?" I murmured, curious.

I opened it and raised an eyebrow at the contents.

"You're a lifesaver ;)" it read in elegant cursive. That was all. The note felt slightly more unsettling than the previous ones. I glanced around the room—there were no windows, and the vents were too small for any human to fit through. So, who could be leaving these notes?

I pinned this latest note next to the others on the bulletin board, feeling a chill run down my spine. It was definitely the same person.

______

The bell had just rung and I ran into the homeroom, however upon seeing Ashley and the other two, Polli couldn't help but switch over.

“Ashley!” As usual she pushed over the queen bee, trying to greet her as if trying to worship an alternative, however. “Good morning-!”

I was met with a frozen tundra reflected in her eyes, I could just tell she wasn't in a good mood

“Ah, is it a good morning…?” Her tone was more icy than usual, “You see…I own this little puppy.”

“It's so small it might actually injure easily.” I saw her eyes narrow, “She didn't listen and got in my way, you understand how troublesome it is when a pet doesn't listen right?”

‘Is she saying Polli’s type of pet!?!’ or at least that's how I took it, but still, just what the hell type of response is that!?!?

“R-right…?” suddenly the usual vigor I see within this minor villainess has disappeared.

“Yes, and thus the puppy is on timeout…” Ashley had simply dismissed and sat far from Polli while the others chatted, I just knew that I wouldn't hear the end of it from Polli, but she has little sense to understand the concept of death flags.

______

Ashley had in fact avoided us the entire time, I'd find it hilarious if not for the fact that it was pitiful for Polli, I almost felt bad for that, but not too bad to the point of not doing it again, it was important to live after all.

Surprisingly though, Polli was mostly in shock, so I indeed did have control for most of the day, however, Paige and Rose walked by.

“I'm so excited Ashley is going to open up a private party and Jace…” They knew Polli was in earshot and wanted her to boil with rage, which I could definitely feel, along with fear and anxiety, but she didn't protest, possibly because she didn't want to disappoint Ashley further.
